Meet David Nicholas, Director of Safety and Security, The Brookings Institution, and the moderator for the May edition of AIRIP’s 2024 Webinar Series – Security & Intelligence: A Non-Profit Approach. Dave has over 25 years of security experience in the U.S. government, military intelligence, corporate, and non-profit sectors. In his current role, Dave leads physical security, event security, emergency planning, travel security, and threat mitigation at Brookings, one of the oldest think thanks in the U.S. Dave previously served as a federal agent and law enforcement officer in the Diplomatic Security Service, U.S. Department of State. His time with the State Department included working with international non-profits, foreign governments, and private sector companies in overseas settings. His career included leading evacuation operations in response to natural disasters and crisis events. Dave grew up in a small Southwestern town with no stoplights and has a bachelor’s degree from Yale University. He has traveled to over 40 countries for work or personal trips. Meet Mark Lowry, Director, Operations & Administration at Rotary International and one of the panelists for the May edition of AIRIP’s 2024 Webinar Series – Security & Intelligence: A Non-Profit Approach. Mark is an accomplished operations professional determined to find solutions to colleagues’ business challenges, large or small. Since joining Rotary International in 2014, Mark has led a diverse portfolio of globally shared services, including travel, property/facilities management, data integrity, and supply chain. In addition, he is a fiduciary for the organization’s wholly-owned for-profit subsidiary in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Beyond physical plant security and traveler safety concerns, Mark’s days are filled with process improvement and customer service delivery. Sustainability within the built environment and skilled trade workforce development are intrinsically related issues about which he is passionate. Mark holds a dual degree in Business Administration & Marketing from the University of Phoenix, and is celebrating 30 years of marriage to his wife Ellen this year.
