Breaking news: Oncor is joining the #900MHz private wireless networks movement! Anterix is proud to announce that it has entered into an agreement under which Oncor will acquire Anterix’s 900 MHz #broadband spectrum throughout its service territory. This will enable Oncor to move to next-generation broadband for the company’s mission-critical data and voice services. Oncor’s broadband network is expected to provide a host of capabilities—including enhanced resiliency, data transmission, and overall communication and operational intelligence—all of which will benefit Oncor and its customers. Headquartered in Dallas, Oncor operates the largest transmission and distribution system in Texas, delivering electricity to more than 4 million homes and businesses, and more than 13 million people via 143,000+ circuit miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas. The multi-party petition to provide an option to expand wireless broadband networks in the #900MHz band to 5 MHz by 5 MHz has received support from more than 30 leading #utilities, trade associations, and technology companies. Among them are: ✳️ Utilities directly serving nearly 30 million electricity customers. ✳️ Associations representing utilities that serve more than 80 percent of all U.S. electricity customers. ✳️ Leading tech companies who are spurring innovation and jobs across our nation. By lending their perspectives on this important effort to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the organizations commenting in favor of the expansion of broadband networks in the 900 MHz band are helping to advance a powerful future for modern grid-enabling communications. Anterix is grateful for their insights, vision, and leadership in support of this petition, and we thank the FCC for taking these comments under consideration.
