  • As another National Forest Week comes to a close, we want to reflect on this year's theme, "Forest Mode." At AFM, we are keenly aware of the benefits forests provide, from improving air quality and sequestering carbon to providing habitat for thousands of species. Our foresters and natural resource professionals are guided by their love for nature and the great outdoors, and many hold a special memory in their hearts and minds about a specific National Forest adventure. What is your favorite National Forest memory? #nationalforestweek #forestisforrest #forests #forestry

Clara (DeYoung) Clark, Biometrician, attended the Center for Advanced Forestry Systems (CAFS) annual meeting and field tour in Madison, WI. The field tour this year was focused on WholeTrees Structure, a company that uses round timber for support in construction sites. Although playing wasn’t part of the tour, the group stopped at a playground that was built using round wood, as well as the grocery store, Festival Foods. AFM’s biometrics team are thought leaders who are always striving to deliver better results for our clients, and they enjoy opportunities to connect and collaborate with others in the industry.

While marking timber sale boundaries on a client property in Lafayette, Arkansas, Trevor Lawrence, Forester, discovered this beautiful, tranquil pond. He observed numerous bird species, fish, snakes, and signs of deer and pigs in the vicinity of the pond. When marking timber sale boundaries, our foresters exclude areas and create buffer space around environmentally sensitive areas such as this pond. This ensures that timber harvest activities take place in an ecologically responsible way. #forestmanagement #landmanagement #forestry #sustainabletimber #sustainableforestry #wildlifehabitat
