Luego en mayo 2023 una segunda sordera súbita atacado mi oído izquierdo con una pérdida del 90% de mi audición por lo que quede completamente sorda de ambos oídos. Acá en Chile existe una ley que se llama Ley Ricarte Soto la cual cubre enfermedades de alto costo. Postule a ella a través de clinica Las Condes y me adjudique en forma gratuita el implante coclerar. Es una ayuda del gobierno y el implante es de Advance Bionics. Y el impacto que ha tenido en mi vida ha sido fabuloso, ya que estuve 4 meses completamente sin audición y logre recuperarla gracias Advance Bionics. English: I first lost the hearing in my right ear in 2015 due to sudden deafness, leaving me hearing with only my left ear. According to the doctors, it was due to a virus. In May 2023, a second sudden deafness attacked my left ear with a loss of 90% of my hearing so I became completely deaf in both ears. Here in Chile, there is a law called the Ricarte Soto Law which covers high cost illnesses. I applied for it through Clinica Las Condes and I got a free cochlear implant. It is a government aid and the implant is from Advance Bionics. And the impact it has had on my life has been fabulous. When I was a child, I had some hearing problems. In 2021, I experienced a sudden drop in hearing, and became nearly deaf. I started trying to wear hearing aids. However, even the most advanced hearing aids cannot fully compensate for my hearing loss. I began to understand the treatment method of cochlear implants and decided to undergo this surgery. After initialization, I felt very excited because I could finally hear the sound! Although I was a bit uncomfortable at first, over time, I gradually adapted to the new listening environment. Now, I have been living with cochlear implants for 8 months, and my hearing condition has greatly improved (despite the noisy work environment). I can communicate and work normally with others. I heard the sound of birds chirping and flowing water that I had never heard before, which surprised me very much. I have also started to pay attention to information related to hearing health and cochlear implantation. As a user who recognizes the effectiveness of cochlear implants, I can share what I know with others and help more people.
