I am ecstatic to share this next step in the evolution of the beatBread platform and our mission to empower Artists and Indie Labels with choice, control and leverage. Artists and Indie Labels can now receive funding offers our platform not only from beatBread itself, but also, from other sources. Artists and Indie labels can even challenge the Network to provide a more compelling choice than a funding offer they have already received. We’ve been quietly beta-testing the Funding Network for over last 6 months, powering music projects, artists and music businesses with both our own capital and capital from leading distributors and music companies. Sometimes the best funding option comes when beatBread provides 100% of the funding. Other times, the best option for an artist or label is a deal where some or all of the capital comes from our partners, or from sources outside the Funding Network altogether. We aren't afraid to show offers beyond our own, and give artists and labels the tools to compare and choose the best option for themselves. Yesterday, the Recording Industry Association of America® (RIAA) announced the filing of two copyright infringement cases based on the mass infringement of copyrighted sound recordings copied and exploited without permission by two multi-million-dollar music generation services, Suno and Udio. ⚙️This case is focused on GenAI, a form of artificial intelligence that ingests data, uses machine learning and deep learning algorithms to analyze that data, identifies patterns and then generates content based on that training data. 🎤 "Independent artists, record labels, and songwriters make immense contributions to culture, yet they often suffer the most when services build businesses by using their work without permission or compensation," said Dr.Richard James Burgess, President & CEO of A2IM. Yesterday, A2IM and IMPALA (Europe), announced the launch of a free one-year pilot project of IMPALA’s Carbon Calculator in the U.S., in partnership with Julie's Bicycle and with the support of Merlin. 🌿 This is the first step towards rolling out the tool in the world's biggest music market, so the sector can measure and reduce carbon footprints in as coordinated a way as possible.
