Our interns had a great time volunteering at Smile Farms Inc. last week! They spent a beautiful day outside gardening, weeding, and planting. In just a couple of short months, peppers grown in these gardens will be harvested and transformed into delicious hot sauce, sold to individuals and restaurants across Long Island. The proceeds from these sales help fund jobs and training for individuals with disabilities. We’re proud to support such a wonderful organization as they continue to create meaningful employment, vocational, and educational opportunities for people with disabilities.

It all started with one flower shop, so it's only fitting that our summer interns revisit our roots by learning to create beautiful floral arrangements. Our very own Daisy Chin led a class, teaching the skills that helped grow 1-800-Flowers.com into what it is today. No surprise, our interns ended up with stunning bouquets! #WeDeliverSmiles

We believe in recognizing #AmazingMoms throughout the year – not just in May! Meet Sara Cunningham, the founder of Free Mom Hugs Inc., an organization dedicated to advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community. Sara launched her nonprofit with a simple mission: “We empower the world to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community through visibility, education, and conversation.” Free Mom Hugs participates in Pride events, parades, and public speaking engagements. It organizes peaceful demonstrations to advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and collaborates with other national and local organizations on projects that help communicate its message of inclusion. Last year, Free Mom Hugs hosted its first Love Revolution conference, featuring speakers, activism-driven educational sessions, and panel discussions. Catholic Health and Smile Farms Inc. have cut the ribbon to their second cooperative garden to help fight hunger on Long Island. Smile Farms, which was created by Jim McCann and Chris McCann, provides meaningful work opportunities for people with disabilities to grow, sell, and donate plants, produce, and products in the community. This new garden will be tended by patients in the Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) Program and the produce will be shared with food-insecure individuals at Mercy Hospital’s Family Care Center in Rockville Centre. Congrats on this wonderful milestone!
