I provided meeting time options and expanded our overall timeline to account for the minimized daily hours available to us. Additionally, understanding that things may come up and there would be time challenges, we recorded the interviews for the committee members who couldn't attend so that they could review at a more convenient time.

I feel empowerment is often misconstrued. It is often perceived to be given, but in effect, the control is tightly kept back. In true sense, to be able to do bigger roles, higher objectives, empowering people and trusting them is the need of the hour. There is no need to micromanage everything. The belief, that every person is good and we have to make them best, to extract what is required towards overall objectives, has to be nurtured. The concept of zero error syndrome has to be thrown out of the window. Learning or growth mindset will only come when we accept mistakes, as we learn maximum from mistakes only. This will point towards empowering and trusting.

One thing I have found helpful is to really meet in person with your remote team members atleast once whenever you get a chance. That brings in a lot of perspective and understanding about how that team member operates, what is the social style and what will work best to take them along. Dedicated time spent in person will give a boost to your remote interactions and set it on right course. Even if you have to travel for this, it is worth it. Human interaction is not a cliche, it is a required catalyst for remote teams' functioning, as I have found out in the last decade or so!

Pay attention to quieter team members and be intentional by giving them the opportunity to be heard at meetings even if it means calling their names for inputs. You could give them a heads up before the meeting. That way, they are better prepared to contribute and not feel put on the spot.
