So define the objectives of your R&D and write a mission or vision statement to it. -Secondly, they should know when and where they can see the outcomes of the work. So, a clearly stated Roadmap articulating the timelines of each logical unit of work -Next is to communicate the progress. If its an Agile project, then report on each sprint progress on what is completed, what is in progress and MOST importantly what is NOT completed and why -Ensure to be HONEST and transparent. This is the ONLY tool to build the trust that's critical to get sponsorship

Seek contribution from your technical team Sometimes the best feedback can be achieved internally. Listening to your core technical team on the design and small nuances can help you drive smaller changes in overall product requirements and help you achieve larger user goals. A products performance is the key to success and the team knows best as to what value adds any feature can provide.

Overcommunicate! Especially when there are lots of stakeholders, or the product is high profile or politically sensitive. You're going to spend a lot of time repeating the same core messages until they sink in. Think about the audience needs; how they prefer to consume information, in what medium, level of detail, frequency etc. If your current comms approach isn't landing, think about how to change it to be more effective. Prioritise the most noisy / influential stakeholders to quieten things down again or pre-empt noise and disruption. Consider how to minimise the influence of unsupportive / antagonistic stakeholders (if you have any). A 1:1 chat is a good way to gain support and handle objections in advance of a group discussion.

Consider writing any progress at 3 levels of detail (seriously!). High level - 1 slide (or a short email) for management. Medium level - 2 to 3 slides for most co-workers. Something with pictures like a 6-up chart - for those who want to double check but don't really have the background or the focus to be on top of the project.
