In delegation (the classical distribution of tasks, not the delegation of part of the job), it is important to follow the rule of 5 fingers on one hand when setting tasks: 1) WHAT needs to be done 2) WHO should do the task 3) WHEN it needs to be done As a general rule, managers stop at this point and simply pass on the task. However, if it's a junior or even a starter specialist, then there are 2 more fingers on the hand: 4) Written - everything that is said verbally can be interpreted in different ways 5) Confirmation received from the responsible employee that he or she understood everything and knows how to do the job. Even the phrase "okay" is a confirmation of the question: Is everything clear?

I would take it a step further from just encouraging your team to seek out training and development opportunities to expecting that they do so. For example, a standing item on the agenda for your regular check-ins might be something like "How is your PD going?" That way, they can see that you are committed to their growth.
