Now that we are able to achieve this, then we can work on optimizations (space or time).

It’s more about whether a new person can read and understand your code easily and for this, remember the below points: 1) Make your variable name tell what it stands for. For example, take two scenarios. int s = 10 int arraySize = 10. What sounds better? The second one. You got it. 2) Make your function name tell what it exactly does. For example, Function util() Function calculateSum() What sounds better? The second one again. By following these suggestions you can improve your chances of impressing the interviewer. Also while in a coding round, do a dry run of your code with an example input. This helps the interviewer to understand your code properly.

Debugging is a critical skill for developers, requiring a combination of technical knowledge, analytical thinking, and methodical problem-solving abilities. Here are the essential skills required for effective debugging: 1. Understanding Error Messages: Ability to interpret and understand compiler or runtime error messages. Knowledge of common error codes and their implications. 2. Using Debugging Tools: Proficiency with Integrated Development Environment (IDE) debugging tools, such as setting breakpoints, stepping through code, and inspecting variables. 3. Following steps can be used for debugging 1.One should understand the problem completely 2.Try to reproduce it 3.Check error msg if any in console or terminal 4.Put breakpoints at different locations of suspected blocks 5.Also carefully checks the variables states at different breakpoints.

For debugging one should be good at analyzing logs. First the issue should be reproduced and the point of breakage should be identified. In large enterprise applications, it becomes difficult to track code sometimes. To tackle this, remote debugger can be used. Put breakpoints and see the behavior of the code. It is always good to add logs in the code during development so that it becomes easier to track it during debugging.

I believe this is one the most underrated skills which is required in interviews and real life work as well. The drilling of the pseudo code Top-bottom or bottom-up is really really interview saving skill to have.

So whenever we have an issue, we try to look at what the issue is, why it is coming, then we start the real hustle. We start backtracking the issue from where it started. If we see any unfamiliar error we resort to search engines like google or nowadays AI tools like ChatGPT. While backtracking we get to the real issue that is causing the error. We fix the issue and if everything else works fine. Then we are ready for QA. Else, if we get any more issues we tend to follow the same steps all over again. Interviewers also just want to see the approach the interviewee is taking while debugging any issue.

While the technical skills are must have so are the soft skills. The ability to communicate your words both politely and effectively is an art. Being honest with the answers and with the polite words is always the key to cracking any interview related to soft skills. 😊
