In fact we are currently doing this for couple of customers right now. Here is what we are doing. 1. We are on Azure database + azure Analysis services cubes etc. 2. We are first mirroring the existing data warehouse using CDC. 3. We are using Fabric which allows the mirroring. 4. We are then building a true medallion architecture for a new data source. 5. This way its sort of no impact to business users and we slowly migrate the old database to new environment. 6. Fortunately Fabric is already designed for scalability and so no extra effort is needed.
