In my views, effective ways to present cybersecurity risks to non technical audience are:- 1. Knowing the Audience to make proper content 2. Expalining how a breach may impact their data, finance, privacy, reputations etc. 3. Practical Examples: Showing (Physically or Virtually in labs) how attacks are done 4. Real Life Examples: Presenting Real Life stories 5. Risk Assessment: Explaining the importance of risk assessment & thus taking precautions 6. Cyber Security Awareness: Not just making the audience aware but encouraging them to be the ambassador for cyber awareness campaign to their contacts / connections 7. Avoid Technical Jargons: Techincal jargons must be avoided; if needed then those must be replaced with suitable simple terms

When teaching a topic to an audience with little or no knowledge of the subject, I believe it's important to start with the basics and build up from there. Some of the basics to start with are: - Know the language (proficiency and technicality of terms you will be using). Ensure to use terms every member of the audience knows, and explain the information carefully if someone does not understand. - Use concrete or related examples, as this can help audience understand better.

You just need to provide examples of attacks in relation to one of the technical product they use. One of the most important attacks that they should go deeply in is the social engineering; everyone can understand the term Trojan since everyone knows Troy history. Start from there go through bating, tail gating, dumpster diving, shoulder surfing... Make a good stop on the password, phishing, and SSL and at the end, don't make it a horror scene but offer solutions i.e. how to memorise 100 password without lot of efforts ...

Know the audience is the first step I belive that will help to evaluate the needs of training and which methodology to share information will work better. Doing so will maximize time and productivity in training others.

It’s important that by following a strict process in removing local admin from your staff, for example, you shouldn’t get too worried about offending staff.

Be very careful though in choosing what analogies to use. And in those you do use, don't to go too far and overextend them to the areas where they start to differ from the topic in question, because it can have quite the opposite effect.

Implementation of a security layer either Physical or Digital is always challenging, as it adds on a singular or multiple additional steps within existing process; or sometimes it has a financial impact that is totally transparent to the end user. Therefor objection is a genuine concern. To address this, all we need to do is make the audience realize the possible fearful impacts, of not having a security layer, from real world example of their expert domain.

Provide clarity whatever the business chooses for now. Get them to understand the effects in the 'if we suffer' scenario. Then move on. Human minds always work in the backgrounds. Then broach the subject at appropriate time later again. Perseverance.

Leverage real-life analogies to convey the concepts: Imagine your house where you keep all your valuable things. Now, think of your online accounts (like email, social media, online banking) as rooms in this house. Each room has a lock (your password). If you use the same key (password) for all the rooms, and someone finds or copies this key, they can enter every room and take whatever they want. Hacker can now read your emails, send messages as you, spend on your stored card. To prevent this, use different keys (passwords) for each room (account). Make each key unique and complex so it's hard to copy. And just like you'd change your house locks if you thought someone might have copied your key, change your passwords regularly.

Always explain everything as if you are talking with a 5 yr old. This gives you room for all the audience to understand what you talking about
