How to Chromecast Netflix

This article explains how to watch Netflix on Chromecast. To cast from your phone or tablet to your Chromecast, you need to be running Android 4.0 or later, or iOS 7.0 or later. To cast Netflix from most Amazon Fire tablets, you must install Google Play and download the version of Netflix available in the Play Store.

How to Set Up Chromecast to Work With Google Home

Before you can cast Netflix from your phone or tablet to your TV with Chromecast, you need to set up your Chromecast device to work with the Google Home app on your phone or tablet.

1. Plug in your Chromecast, connect it to your TV, and make sure your TV is set to the correct input.

2. Download and install the Google Home app on your phone or tablet.

3. Make sure your phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that you will use with your Chromecast.

4. Launch the Google Home app on your phone or tablet, and set up your Chromecast as a new device.

How to Cast Netflix to Your TV With Chromecast

Once you've successfully set up your Chromecast, you're ready to start casting from Netflix and other video sources. Just download the Netflix app on your device, then use the following instructions to start casting to your TV:

1. Plug in and power up your Chromecast, make sure it's on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone or tablet, and make sure your TV is on the right input.

2. Open the Netflix app on your phone and log in if necessary.

3. Tap the Cast icon (the box with a Wi-Fi signal in the lower-left corner).

4. Tap the Chromecast device that you want to cast to. In this case, we tap Family Room TV.

   All of your compatible devices will appear in this list, including non-Chromecast devices like Fire TV.

5. Locate something you want to watch, and tap Play.

   

6. Your content will start playing on your TV in fullscreen mode.

How to Control Netflix While Casting to Your TV

While casting Netflix to your TV with a Chromecast, the Netflix app on your phone functions as a controller. That means you use your phone to pause, play, change the volume, and everything else.

1. While casting from the Netflix app to a Chromecast, tap the gray bar that displays the title of the content you're watching.

   You can pause and rewind your video directly from the control bar without opening the full menu.

2. To access subtitles and audio options, tap the speech bubble, choose your desired options, then tap Apply to return to the previous menu.

   

3. Tap the speaker icon to adjust the volume. This will adjust the volume of the cast, not your phone.

4. Tap the stacked rectangles icon to select a different episode.

   

How to Stop Casting Netflix to a Chromecast

When you're done casting, use the Netflix app to disconnect your phone from your Chromecast.

1. With the control menu open, tap the name of your Chromecast in the bottom center of the screen. In this example, we tap Family Room TV.

2. Tap Disconnect.
