Gulstan Dart

Anchor/Reporter

Award-winning journalist Gulstan Dart comes to KCRA 3 from KIRO-TV in Seattle, where he anchored the morning and noon newscasts since 2003. Before his time in Seattle, Gulstan co-anchored the 5 p.m. award-winning and top-rated newscast at WSB-TV in Atlanta.

Prior to diving back into local news, Gulstan reported from the scene of major stories at MSNBC as a news show host and news anchor. His duties also crossed over to the NBC Network, where he was the newsreader for NBC's Weekend Today Show and contributed to NBC Weekend Nightly News.

He also developed an important connection to the West Coast as an anchor reporter at the NBC affiliate in Portland, Oregon and Medford, Oregon. Gulstan has also been on the front line of national breaking news including forest fires in Oregon and Florida, hurricanes and national politics.

Gulstan has won Regional Emmy Awards for investigative reporting and writing. He has also won other AP awards for reporting and spot news coverage.

Gulstan supports a variety of charities including the March of Dimes, which is near and dear to his heart as he and his wife lost a child to a birth defect in 1998. Gulstan supported other charities in the Seattle area, including Children's Hospital, Rotary Club, Lupus Foundation, Alzheimer's Association and Highline Community College. Gulstan is a past board member of the Salvation Army and Boys and Girls Club.

As the first person in his family to graduate from college, Gulstan talks to students about his career path and gives them encouragement to succeed in school and life.

Gulstan is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington. He is married with three children and enjoys hiking, water sports, astronomy, reading biographies and downtime with his family. Gulstan is eager and honored to help carry on the KCRA 3 tradition of journalism excellence, and his family is excited to be in Sacramento.
