Sacramento is the Farm-to-Fork Capital of America, and the Central Valley produces about 25% of the nation’s food, yet our neighbors experience hunger at a higher rate than the state and national averages. Due to the pandemic, rising costs of living and other factors, hunger in our area continues to rise dramatically, with some food banks currently serving over 40% more people each month than they were in 2019.The KCRA 3 Kids Can! Food Drive has been helping to feed hungry families in our community for 36 years since 1987. Children, parents and teachers brought in over 187,000 pounds of food in 2022. We need your help now more than ever and hope that you will be able to participate in the drive once again. The primary participants in the drive are schools throughout Northern California, but anyone can help by donating nonperishable food items to any participating school.
