Part-time Student-GIS Data Science and Analytics – John Deere

  • Part-time role for students studying Geosciences, Agriculture, Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Statistics. Open to undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  • Located in Austin, TX
  • In this role, students can expect to lead and/or support key GIS projects through the John Deere Technology Innovation Center and utilize GIS techniques to process, analyze, and visualize data.

3 open Hydrologist I positions – Texas Water Development Board

  • The Groundwater Monitoring Department at the Texas Water Development Board has three field position vacancies:
    • One vacancy is a general Groundwater Monitoring Specialist (Hydrologist I) position (#24-39) – the job posting can be viewed here.
    • Two vacancies are on the Recorder Well Team as a Recorder Program Specialist (Hydrologist I) position (#24-38) – the job posting can be viewed here.
    • These positions require a lot of travel and field work but are a great way to gain valuable groundwater monitoring field work and field data collection experience. There are opportunities for data analysis, reporting, travel to the sites of Texas, participation in special groundwater projects, and cross-division collaboration with surface water staff.

River Operations at LCRA – Hydrologist

  • Location: Buchanan Dam office near Burnet, TX
  • This position will spend much of their time in the field working at the Hydromet gages spread throughout the Colorado River Basin upstream of Austin.

The Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology (MBMG) – Hydrogeologist

  • Seeking one or more hydrogeologists to work in the Ground Water Investigation Program (GWIP)
  • Position is located in Butte, Montana and located on the campus of Montana Technological University.
  • GWIP evaluates local- to regional-scale hydrogeologic systems, with studies that encompass groundwater/surface-water interactions, water availability and storage, and groundwater quantity and quality. The successful candidate(s) may also support the Ground Water Assessment Program (GWAP) and other hydrogeologic projects conducted at the MBMG. Primary duties will be the collection and analysis of hydrogeologic, geochemical, and geologic data to develop interpretations of hydrogeologic frameworks, groundwater flow systems, and groundwater quality.

Matanuska Glacier Alaska Summer 2024 Internship

  • The Matanuska Glacier Park in Alaska is accepting applications for paid glacier intern positions this summer, with opportunities to convert to full-time employment for the fall-winter-spring (if desired).  This summer experience allows students to earn money over the summer while gaining hands-on experience working on a glacier in rural Alaska.
  • Student interns have worked at the Matanuska Glacier Park since the early 1990s hailing from colleges and universities around the country.  Most of our interns have science backgrounds, however we will consider students from non-science majors. Regardless of a student’s professional aspirations, everyone gains valuable exposure to the complex dynamics of this glacial geological and hydrological system through their daily work on the glacier.
