Love Island fans became concerned about Sam Taylor moments before he was dumped from the show.

The 23-year-old hairstylist from Sheffield was brutally axed from the ITV2 show on Tuesday night on just the second night of the latest series. He became the first Islander of the series to be dumped. Former The Only Way Is Essex star Joe Essex was tasked with choosing a girl to couple up with.

It meant that the boy coupled with the girl he chose would be dumped. Before the decision, viewers took to X to share their concern from Sam after they thought he was barely shown during the episode. One said: "Why is everyone acting like Sam is invisible? Does he smell or something? #LoveIsland." Another added: "Why is no one pouncing on Sam rn #loveIsland."

Joey was given the ultimate decision on who to send packing after spending a day getting to know the girls in the villa. He had chats with each girl, but ultimately appeared to become closest to Samantha. The boys were not happy about Joey seemingly holding all the power regarding their future in the villa. Speaking at the firepit, Joey declared he made the "right decision" to choose Samantha to couple up with.

A brand new line-up entered the villa on Monday night during the launch show. Maya Jama returned to hosting duties following the All Stars series earlier this year. The Islanders kicked off the series as they were were paired up and a celebrity bombshell arrival. A host of boys and girls - 12 in total - entered on the first day, with The Only Way Is Essex icon Joey Essex soon making an arrival as the first bombshell of the series.

Joey, 33, revealed in a pre-show interview that he had not been approached for the show and had instead signed up himself. He shared the extreme lengths he had to go to to be able to hide himself and keep his villa entry a big secret. The TV star marks the first celebrity arrival on the ITV2 show.

The contestants were asked to rank the opposite sex on who they thought was most boyfriend or girlfriend material, and who wasn't. Maya then revealed they had coupled themselves up - with the most boyfriend material and most girlfriend material being paired together, and the least boyfriend and the least girlfriend material Islanders being coupled up too.
