What Time Does Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals Start?

How to Watch: Oilers vs. Panthers Game 7 Online

For those preferring to watch online, the game can be streamed through Sportsnet+, which costs $19.99 per month for the Standard plan, which includes access to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Fans can watch the game by downloading the Sportsnet app on Apple TV, iOS, Android, and more, or by streaming it live on the web.

The matchup between the Oilers and the Panthers has garnered significant attention as it marks the 18th Game 7 in Stanley Cup Final history, the first since the St. Louis Blues defeated the Boston Bruins in 2019, according to ESPN stats.

Historically, road teams have won the last three Game 7s in the Stanley Cup Final, with home teams holding a 12-5 record overall. This game represents the Oilers’ third appearance in a Stanley Cup Final Game 7, having previously defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in 1987 and lost to the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006.

The Oilers are also playing their 13th playoff Game 7 in franchise history, having won 8 out of 12 previous Game 7s. The Panthers are entering their fourth Game 7 in franchise history, with a record of 2-0 on the road and 0-1 at home, the latter loss occurring in the 2012 conference quarterfinals against the New Jersey Devils.

The Oilers, which have become Canada’s team for the most part, are looking to complete a historic reverse sweep after trailing 3-0 in the series. We haven’t seen a Canadian team win the Stanley Cup since the Montreal Canadiens led by Patrick Roy achieved that feat in 1993, defeating the L.A. Kings, which saw Canadian hockey legend Wayne Gretzky compete in the finals for the last time.

Connor McDavid and his teammates have outscored the Panthers 18-5 to tie the series, aiming to become only the third team in NHL history to achieve such a comeback in the Stanley Cup Final. The Panthers, meanwhile, will strive to avoid the agony of losing a 3-0 lead in the final series (Zito might toss a water cooler this time). There’s pressure on both teams to win here and let’s hope it’s a close game that ends up in overtime.

For Canucks fans, Roberto Luongo has been a Florida Panthers Special Advisor to the General Manager since November 2019. You can bet he’s thinking back to 2011 when the Canucks (and Kevin Bieksa on the Sportsnet panel) lost to the Boston Bruins in Game 7, and then riots ensued in downtown Vancouver (yet again mimicking its 1994 Game 7 loss to Mark Messier and the New York Rangers). Will this be Luongo’s time to touch Lord Stanley?
