Erik has worked for more than 30 years as a writer, editor, and copyeditor in the field of journalism, spending 13 years at Back Stage magazine, where he rose to become national theatre editor and the newspaper's head theatre critic. He is also a playwright, lyricist, and stage director, and his musicals have been produced off-Broadway in regional theatres across America, including the Kennedy Center, and in the U.K.

Erik is a recognized scholar of the lives and work of John Latouche and Alan Jay Lerner and wrote the liner notes for RCA's release on CD of Latouche's musical The Golden Apple. He is a former member of the New York Drama Critics' Circle and the Drama Desk, as well as a current member of the Dramatists Guild and ASCAP.

Education

Erik received his bachelors from Northwestern University with a degree in theater and earned his masters from New York University with a degree in writing for the musical theater.
