Experience

Jennifer L. Cook got her start in editorial work in London as a researcher for three industrial relations journals. Soon after her return to the States, she landed her first magazine job as a researcher at New York. Since then, Jennifer has held every position on the editorial side, from writer to executive editor to editor-in-chief, at Self, Glamour, Body & Soul, Prevention, and Good Housekeeping, among other women's titles. While at Good Housekeeping, she developed and edited the New York Times bestselling book, 7 Years Younger, and helped design and create the Anti-Aging Beauty Shopper app for iOS/Android. At GH she also started the Good Housekeeping Institute Anti-Aging Awards, an annual consumer-based product-testing and reporting project that earned Jennifer a 2010 Hearst Spotlight Award.

As a senior-level magazine editor, Jennifer developed expertise in women's financial issues, assigning and/or editing countless articles from medical cost-cutting and household money management to getting out of debt and saving for retirement. She has continued to focus on personal finance over the past four years as a contributor to Investopedia. Currently, she writes on health and personal finance for Bottom Line Personal, one of the most widely read consumer newsletters, as well as Prevention and Consumer Reports, among other publications. Jennifer has also ghostwritten and/or edited several consumer health books, including Memory Rescue by Dr. Daniel Amen.

Education

Jennifer graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz with a degree in English literature and a minor in modern dance.

Jennifer is a three-time National Magazine Award Finalist in Personal Service (twice) and General Excellence (once). She was a finalist for a James Beard Foundation Journalism Award.

Quote from Jennifer L. Cook

"I love working with words and inspiring people to live healthier lives, which includes financial health. Since financial information can be dry and complex, I like to use my skills to make it clear, jargon-free, and more accessible to anyone who needs it."
