Experience

Carla Tardi is a seasoned technical editor and digital content producer in the financial services sector. Carla began her career on Wall Street at the legendary Salomon Brothers Inc as Publications Liaison for the High-Yield Research department. There, she worked on the junk-bond trading desk among the analysts, salesmen, and traders whom she supported. Carla was part of a team that propelled Salomon Brothers out of the era of word-processing to become an early adopter of digital publishing. She helped design Salomon's first template for high-yield research reports—in MS Word for Windows, version 1.0.

Carla went on to become Managing Editor at Bear Stearns and Co. and Vice President at Citicorp Securities, where she built and managed editorial staffs—still in corporate-bond, emerging-markets, and special-situations research. She switched her focus to equities as Director of Equity Research Publications at Fidelity Management and Research Company (FMRCO), where she developed many innovative internal stock research products. Chief among her accomplishments, Carla designed and launched a new publishing platform for Fidelity's Boston, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong offices. This was a hard-won cultural shift that changed how Fidelity's analysts wrote their research and how Fidelity's portfolio managers received it.

A closet techie, Carla learns new systems easily and has built a number of websites (from code) for her employers. She is a strategic thinker who enjoys collaborating with companies on creative ways to grow their businesses. Currently, Carla works as a freelance digital editor for Dotdash/ Investopedia.

Education

Carla earned a BA degree from the University of Illinois and an MFA degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She also received a post-graduate Certificate in Publishing and Communications (CPC) from Harvard University, as well as certificates in numerous financial topics from New York University's Stern School of Business.

Quote from Carla Tardi

"I have always enjoyed linguistic challenges. So, when I landed on Wall Street, I embraced the task of turning financial jargon into plain English. Through this work, I truly hope that those who typically find financial services daunting will grow to love the sector as much as I do."
