There's a lot of intrigue and excitement surrounding Warner Bros.' upcoming Minecraft movie and, as we first reported on GameFragger.com, a first look has leaked online today courtesy of a "packaging guide" document.
In the images, we see Jack Black's Steve - depicted as a regular human - decked out in a blue t-shirt and jeans. The bearded The Super Mario Bros. Movie star is also shown wielding a blocky pickaxe alongside a mossy Creeper, a cuboid bee, and a pink sheep.
A brief story synopsis is also included which sheds new light on what's to come in Minecraft; apparently, Steve will be captured by an evil entity called Malgosha, with his fate in the hands of "four fresh visitors" to the Minecraft world. It sounds very Jumanji-esque!
There had been speculation the images might be faked (AI makes anything possible these days), but social media...

Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass has removed an Instagram post apologizing for a joke he made about Donald Trump’s attempted assassination.
The apology was posted in the immediate aftermath of Tenacious D’s concert in Sydney, Australia last weekend, where Gass was asked to make a wish for his birthday and responded, “Don’t miss Trump next time.”
“The line I improvised onstage Sunday night was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake. I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone,” Gass wrote in his apology. “What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.”
However, just three days later, Gass has now removed the apology post from his Instagram page.

After co-starring with Pedro Pascal in ‘The Mandalorian,’ Gina Carano gained international fame with a role that suited her well in the series. However, her tenure at Disney came to an abrupt end when her character was rewritten and she was dismissed, sparking a lingering controversy.
The reasons behind Carano’s departure are widely known: her political and ideological beliefs clashed with Disney’s values, particularly her anti-woke stance and other controversial remarks. She has since pursued legal action against Disney, seeking reinstatement or compensation. Amidst this, Carano has not hesitated to publicly criticize her former employer, and another opportunity for confrontation has recently arisen.
The latest trigger for Gina Carano’s renewed criticism of Disney was the incident involving Kyle Gass, Jack Black’s bandmate from Tenacious D, who made an inappropriate joke regarding the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump. Despite actions taken by both Black and Gass...

When Gina Carano costarred with Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian, she shot to international fame. The actress was given a role that suited her, and as a result, she rose to prominence in the series. However, Gina Carano was once dismissed by Disney, and the show’s character was rewritten. This led to a lengthy scandal that is still ongoing.
Everyone is aware of what transpired and why it transpired later. Because the actress’s political and ideological beliefs did not align with Disney’s values, she was fired. This was primarily due to her anti-woke sentiments and opinions, but there were other contentious remarks as well. Carano has since taken up legal action against Disney in hopes of being rehired or reimbursed, but she has also been attacking her former employer whenever the opportunity presents itself, and believe it or not – another one presented itself.

When How I Met Your Mother debuted in 2005, it became popular right away. Under the direction of Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the show featured Josh Radnor’s character Ted Mosby as he narrated his children the story of how he met their mother, captivating viewers with its unique narrative technique. In addition to Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris’s portrayal of the well-known womanizer Barney Stinson gave the show the necessary comic edge.

John Rich has been trolling Jack Black for quite some time. Recently, Black canceled the rest of the current Tenacious D tour after death comments were made by Black’s bandmate, Kyle Gass. Rich doubled down on his trolling efforts in a major way. So, what did Rich have to say about Black amid this current controversy?
Kyle Gass Makes Death Comments, Gets Tenacious D Tour Axed
Jack Black and Kyle Gass are a part of the comedic singing duo, Tenacious D. While they are known for songs with humorous lyrics, a recent comment made by Gass while on tour in Australia was no laughing matter, leading Jack Black to shut down the entire tour because of the kind of heat that those comments generated.
Tenacious D was right in the middle of their The Spicy Meatball Tour, with dates planned all over. However, those plans quickly changed after a remark from Gass.

Jack Black is halting Tenacious D‘s current tour and canceling “all creative plans” for the hard-rockin’ duo after bandmate Kyle Gass’s on-stage joke landed the band in hot water. During a performance in Sydney on Sunday, Gass cracked a controversial joke related to the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump that Black was unprepared for and did not condone. In the middle of the band’s electrifying set, Black asked Gass to make a wish, to which Gass replied, “Don’t miss Trump next time.” The quip went off like a lead balloon, with Black and crowd members stunned by Gass’ poorly-worded witticism.

Gina Carano has been fighting and is now suing Disney over her dismissal from “Star Wars” and the damage to her reputation. Her issues started when she politely refused to put pronouns in her bio on Twitter, and she was fired after posting about how people were manipulated into hating Jewish people during the Holocaust.
This is the comment that got her labeled as “abhorrent” by Lucasfilm and Disney:
“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors… even by children… Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”

Tom Morello’s renowned guitar talents clearly run in the family.
The Rage Against the Machine guitarist is currently on a tour of Europe, and he brought his 13-year-old son Roman along for the trip. The two have have been opening Tom’s sets with their new co-penned track “Soldier in the Army of Love,” and Tom recently took to social media to share a couple of clips of their performances, including a July 8th set at the Villafranca Festival in Verona, Italy.
“Good lord. My 13 year old kid Roman Morello Scorching his way across Europe,” wrote Tom on one of the posts.
Indeed, Roman absolutely rips a superfast guitar solo on his Telecaster, getting a full spotlight moment as the rest of the band goes silent. Tom proceeds to hype up his son, gesturing him to take the lead while giving him centerstage.

It’s no secret that the Covid-19 pandemic upended the movie theater business in 2020, but in the years since, the industry has slowly climbed back. In 2021, 14 movies were able to cross the coveted $100 million mark at the U.S. box office. In 2022, that number jumped up to 18 films. And in 2023, there were a whopping 25 such blockbusters. So how many features released during the current 2024 calendar year will end up becoming box office behemoths? Stay tuned.
To date, the biggest money-makers of the year are a pair of highly anticipated sequels: “Inside Out 2” and “Dune: Part Two.” Scroll through our gallery above (or click here for direct access) to see all of the 2024 box office hits so far that made more than $100 million in the United States. Filming wrapped on director Eli Roth‘s adaptation of the Borderlands video game series from Gearbox and 2K way back in June of 2021. A year and a half later, Deadpool director Tim Miller had to step in to handle the project’s two weeks of reshoots because Roth had the chance to finally – after sixteen years – make a feature based on the Thanksgiving faux trailer he put together for the Quentin Tarantino / Robert Rodriguez collaboration Grindhouse. The Borderlands reshoots have been completed, Thanksgiving has come and gone, and Lionsgate is now gearing up to finally release Borderlands into the world on August 9th… and with that date right around the corner, a featurette has arrived online to give us a look at the “dysfunctional family” of characters at the heart of the story. You can watch it in the embed above.

In 2023, Hollywood star Chris Pratt lent his voice to the iconic character of Mario in the animated feature The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Adapted from the cult Nintendo video game franchise, the story of two Italian-American plumbers and their adventures in a fantasy world, became as big a rage as the original games and broke the $1 billion mark in no time along with other records.

Chris Van Allsberg's picture book "Jumanji" was first published in 1981, and it quickly became a staple in elementary schools and libraries, read widely and joyously by several generations of kids. The book won a Caldecott medal, and Allsberg would go on to write other children's classics like "The Z Was Zapped," "The Polar Express," and the "Jumanji" sequel "Zathura."
The premise is fun: Two kids, bored at home, find a jungle-adventure-themed board game called Jumanji in their attic. When they play it, however, they find that the dictated events of the game manifest in their house. When the game cards tell them they've run into chimpanzees, chimpanzees appear in their kitchen, and more and more animals begin wreaking havoc as the game progresses. It's only when the game ends that the mayhem ceases.

Horror director Eli Roth might be known as a purveyor of torture porn movies like "Hostel" and "Cabin Fever," but he has a soft side when it comes to animals. Speaking to Total Film about his holiday slasher "Thanksgiving," he confessed to having a problem with movies where a murder victim has a pet. "I can't enjoy the movie until I know someone's gonna feed that pet. Even though I know it's a story, I know it's not real. I'm like, but what about the cat?"
Roth has a pet of his own -- a French bulldog -- who gave him the inspiration he needed when pitching a "Borderlands" movie to Lionsgate. "Whenever I take her for a walk and she has to go to the bathroom, she won't let me look at her," Roth explains in the latest issue of SFX magazine. "I have to look away because she gets really shy.

Historically, the Oscars have maintained a storied reputation for favoring the dramatic flair over the whimsical jests of comedy films. Despite this, in a moment that shook the aisles with humor during the 79th Academy Awards (2007), beloved comedic giants Will Ferrell and Jack Black delivered a delightful sketch spotlighting this very phenomenon.
Will Ferrell as Buddy in Elf | New Line Cinema
With John C. Reilly at their side, they charmed the audience with a musical number that elegantly highlighted the loneliness of comedy stars at the Oscars. Indeed, in one segment, Ferrell and Black jovially (and facetiously) threatened more serious nominees in the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor categories, including the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Ryan Gosling.
Ferrell dared not, however, mess with Mark Wahlberg.

Cate Blanchett is well-aware that her starring in video-game adaptation “Borderlands” is more than a little unexpected.
The Oscar winner told Empire that leading Eli Roth’s action film was a way to escape her “Covid madness” of quarantine at the time.
“The crazy asks are usually the things I gravitate towards; the things I could never conceive of,” Blanchett said. “I think there also may have been a little Covid madness — I was spending a lot of time in the garden, using the chainsaw a little too freely. My husband said, ‘This film could save your life.'”
Blanchett prepared just as seriously for her role as Lillith, the leader of a ragtag group of space mercenaries, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, Arianna Greenblatt, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black, as she has for any role. Blanchett turned into a gamer just for the fully-meta experience of “Borderlands.”

Cuddly Kung Fu master Po the Panda returns to the big screen for a fourth instalment of the animated action comedy franchise, eight years after Kung Fu Panda 3. Unfortunately, it’s fair to say that the law of diminishing returns has very much kicked in, because while the film is entirely amiable, it doesn’t quite deliver the same punch, and frequently feels like it’s going through the motions.
The film begins in the Valley of Peace, where Po (Jack Black) is content with his life as the legendary Dragon Warrior, occasionally defeating the odd villain with his sweet kung-fu skills and using his standing in the community to open a tofu-and-noodle shop.

For all that Cate Blanchett has done through her career – playing Elves, nefarious psychologists, maniacal music conductors and more – she’s rarely had the chance to go in all-guns-blazing. But that changes with Borderlands. Blanchett leads the cast of Eli Roth’s long-awaited video game adaptation, playing gun-toting space-outlaw Lilith – the leader of a ragtag crew on a deadly mission, heading to her home planet of Pandora. And as it turned out, it was something she enjoyed immensely. “The gun-slinging stuff was so much fun,” Blanchett tells Empire.
It might not be the sort of role you expect Blanchett to play. But that, she says, was part of the appeal. “The crazy asks are usually the things I gravitate towards; the things I could never conceive of,” she explains. “I think there also may have been a little Covid madness — I was spending a lot of time in the garden,...

It was meant to be a night to assuage Hollywood’s donor class’ concerns about President Joe Biden’s fitness. But it quickly turned into a nightmare for some of the industry’s biggest Democratic backers.
Top donors from the media and entertainment business are panicking about Biden’s performance after he stumbled through a 90-minute debate against former President Donald Trump that was watched by some 51 million people.
“With all the text chains I’m on, people are basically like, ‘If he doesn’t drop out, we’re not giving any more money to Democrats or the Democratic Party.’ It’s like super intense,” said one high-profile Hollywood donor.
Adds another who is plugged in at the highest level of Hollywood fundraising: “There is a sense that the money dried up last night about 10 minutes into the debate.”

Amidst the numerous comebacks in the exciting, ever-changing Tinseltown tale, Robert Downey Jr.’s 2008 successful career comeback always stands out. How often do we see an actor soar to new heights in a role that even kicks off a global franchise? Enter Marvel’s Iron Man—who simultaneously can dare to court controversy in the same breath.
It’s a rare spectacle, yet Downey Jr. managed just that. He took on the audacious role of Kirk Lazarus in Ben Stiller’s biting satire, Tropic Thunder, undergoing contentious ‘pigmentation alteration’ surgery within the film’s story to portray a black character. While Marvel’s Iron Man sent his star into the stratosphere, Tropic Thunder, conversely, may have threatened to tarnish his reputation.

1993’s Demolition Man is a ridiculous movie. There are poop-swabbing seashells, dystopian Taco Bells and a nude Sylvester Stallone dummy that later became the creepiest Planet Hollywood decoration of all-time. Seriously, who put this on the ceiling of a family restaurant and thought that it wouldn’t emotionally scar children?
Then there’s the cast. Instead of a more seasoned actor, the producers hired comedian Denis Leary to play Edgar Friendly, the leader of a guerrilla army of resistance fighters, which, I guess makes sense, considering that his rebels are opposed to the politically correct fascists who won’t let him have any fun.
He basically does a tight five in the middle of the movie all about how he yearns to smoke cigars in restaurants and read Playboy magazine while nude and slathered in green Jell-o. It’s kind of hard not to side with the evil police state after that.

“The Sopranos” star Drea de Matteo was interviewed on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” (via Mediaite) and said she’s got a target on her back in Hollywood because she’s an actor who does not endorse Joe Biden for president. The Emmy-winning actor went on to say there are “a lot” of “quiet” Donald Trump supporters in Hollywood, suggesting they won’t go public with their support out of fear of being similarly criticized for going against Biden.
