| Stack Overflow Jobs Reborn In Partnership With Indeed |

Stack Overflow has launched a new jobs site co-branded with Indeed. It is intended to make thousands of highly-relevant job openings easily discoverable by developers. The job site is currently available in the US, but may expand to more markets in the future.
Having had a rough ride over the past couple of years in which Stack Overflow had seen a slump in its traffic, see reviving its jobs board seems like a good idea if simply to increase visitor numbers. In addition, Stack Overflow is able to point to its own research, reported by I Programmer in Stack Overflow Finds Job Flexibility Top Concern, which revealed that, in October 2023, 4 in 5 developers are considering a job move, either for a better salary or out of curiosity. The survey also reported that one of the top ways developers find out about companies they may want to work for before they start searching for a new job are on job boards (53%). The new Stack Overflow Jobs is described as "an experiment" in a post on its Labs Section which states: We know the previous job site was a beloved part of our community for many years, from our first iteration of Stack Overflow Jobs, developers around the world turned to Stack Overflow to find their next opportunity. We believe we’ve found a sustainable solution that best serves developer needs while bringing a best-in-class experience. We’re excited to partner with Indeed, a leading global matching and hiring platform to understand the feasibility and functionality of Stack Overflow Jobs once again. While in its previous incarnation developers created and maintained their resumes, referred to as "developer stories" on Stack Overflow, now developers will create Indeed Profiles instead. However in other respects the new and old seem very similar with Stack Overflow claiming: It will serve developers at every stage of their career, from seasoned professionals to those just getting started, and support searches for a variety of technology roles from Full-Stack Developers to Site Reliability Engineers and more. We will also continue to partner on resources and content to help developers and technologists in their job search and ongoing career development. While there is a research aspect to this experiment, Stack Overflow wants to: Learn how and how often developers and technologists use Stack Overflow Jobs, learn what is most important to developers in their job search,learn what features are most valuable to provide a seamless experience, and learn how we can improve by gathering feedback from you. the jobs board is also regarded as a useful resource to technical job seekers with Prashanth Chandrasekar, CEO of Stack Overflow, commenting: “We are excited to bring together the world's largest and most trusted community for developers and technologists and Indeed’s global hiring platform." Stack Overflow Jobs powered by Indeed is already up and running.

It is over two years since Stack Overflow axed its previous job site. At the time I speculated that this decision could be something to do with Stack Overflow's new owners Prosus, which is owned in turn by the South African multinational, Naspers. Having paid $1.8 billion Prosus might well have been calling the shots, insisting that its expensive acquisition devote all its efforts to its core product - Stack Overflow Teams.
