Leaks: Still unknown iPad identifiers – and a "HomeAccessory" from Apple
New details about upcoming Apple products have emerged over the 4th of July. It's about new tablets, but also a completely new device category.

While Independence Day was celebrated with festivities and fireworks in the United States yesterday, there were a number of leaks about previously unknown Apple products on X and elsewhere. These are said to be new iPads on the one hand and an entirely new product category on the other, which could be a new home device that combines a HomePod speaker with other hardware.
14 iPad identifiers discovered - but not all models are coming
The iPad details come from code analyst @nicolas09F9, who had them distributed by leak expert Aaron Perris. There are a total of 14 device identifiers, six of which apparently represent models that Apple did not launch on the market after all. There is an "iPad13,20" and an "iPad13,21", which would probably have been standard iPads with A14 (WLAN and mobile communications). "iPad15,3", "iPad15,4", "iPad15,5" and "iPad15,6" would have been 11- and 13-inch Pro models with M3 SoC, each with WLAN and mobile communications.
A total of eight ipad identifiers stand for devices that are not yet available. "iPad15.7" and "iPad15.8" could be the 11th generation of the standard iPad with A16 SoC (from iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max as well as 15 and 15 Plus), with Wi-Fi and cellular. "iPad16,1" and "iPad16,2" are said to stand for the 7th generation of the iPad mini, which is thought to have the A17 from the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max (both Wi-Fi and cellular). "iPad17,1", "iPad17,2", "iPad17,3" and "iPad17,4" are supposedly 11- and 13-inch Pro models with the as yet unknown M5 SoC (Wi-Fi and cellular). It remains unclear whether Apple will actually launch these so soon after the current M4 models- for example next spring or summer.
New device category for the home with Apple Intelligence
An even more interesting leak comes directly from Aaron Perris. He discovered a wholly new identifier designation in Apple code, he wrote on Macrumors on July 4. The device is called "HomeAccessory17,1". Until now, the only Apple identifier was "AudioAccessory", which stands for the HomePod smart speaker. "17.1", on the other hand, refers to Apple's upcoming A18 chip, which is intended for the iPhone 16 (all models).
The "HomeAccessory", whose actual name is still unknown, should be ready for Apple Intelligence thanks to the SoC, unlike the HomePod. The operating system of the new device category will be "a form of tvOS", as we know it from the HomePods. Previously, there had been leaks that Apple was working on an as yet unknown operating system called homeOS. The leak was in tvOS. Two identifiers for as yet unknown Apple TV models called "AppleTV14,4" and "AppleTV14,5" were also discovered. These improved multimedia boxes could be announced in the coming year. It is unclear exactly what the "HomeAccessory" will look like. It could be a combination of Apple TV and HomePod with a screen. Meanwhile, it was also rumored that Apple could merge the iPad with the HomePod.
