Right now for my Lit class we are reading Exploding Chippewas Exploding Chippewas (Triquarterly Books) by Mark Turcotte by Mark Turcotte. I like poetry but I don't gravitate to this genre often on my own.

How many people enjoy the multi layers of poetry? Or write poetry themselves?

*I'm up for sharing small poems on this thread if you would like. Or links.*

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) | 130 comments I like poetry. It is above my head sometimes, but I enjoy writing and reading it. There are really only two of the poems I've written. They are:

Jo, I wouldn't know which way to send you. The other poems that I like are by Edgar Allen Poe. A few by Walt Witman and... Wait that is my list. Exploding Chippewas is a pretty good beginning poetry book. I understand some of the Native American Identity problems because I live it as well.

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) | 130 comments I have The Complete Book of Stories and Poems by Edgar Allan Poe. I love both his stories and his poems.

I just like how creepy and dead they go. I'm thinking about doing one of his lesser known works for my speech competition in March.

Hi Elyssa, that was beautiful - such emotion in that poem and insight to what beauty is - very deep

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) When I was in college at Southwest Texas in 2002, I went to England to study FREUD and the History of Psychology I had a lot of time to read and think and I wrote a few poems that have meaning in life. I don't have a blog to share with everyone but here it is - its short:

MOODS

Being down and out
Gives you a lot to think about

Having bad luck
Feels like having no luck

Laughing and Crying
Is like living and dieing

Moods come and go
Like footballs flying through goals

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Simple. I like it. From serious to smirking at the analogy of football.

Thanks for liking my poem. I don't normally write. But I woke up and had to write it down. It was pretty freaky for me to do that. But I like the results.

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) I haven't wrote a lot of poems , only about 20 I guess, most of them are about emotions of my children, my opinions, thoughts, and sexuality. Of course after studying FREUD - a man who believes everything evolves around sex - LOL - I think I would have to agree with him at one point - LOL, Anyway, here is a fun poem I wrote about LOVE and then I wont bother you guys with my boreing poems - LOL

LOVE

Love is an emotion
Full of devotion

A inside desire
That burns you like fire

A feeling of happiness
As your body becomes helpless

Un-controlling urges
When two bodies emerges

Lips Lock
Sensations don't stop

Our hands caressing each other's body parts
Passions are arrows that Cupid puts through our hearts

You find your self in a daze
When the penetration comes in a rage

It only last for a while
But its left you glaring with a smile

Thoughts run through your brain
Oh my God! I feel insane

Can't stop wondering if it's real
My heart and friendship it steals

Love is beautiful
It fits us suitable

Marriage comes to mind
Our love has to last through out time

Hi Elyssa, they say a good writer usually wakes up and writes down the first thing that comes to their minds - its funny how things come to us in our sleep or when we are feeling some kind of emotion

Freud is a great man. Although, at points during my philosophy class I wanted to dig him up and murder him. He did have a few great things to say.

I'll have to keep that in mind. Pen and paper just in case I wake up with another epiphany poem.
