[close] We grow up being told we can be whatever we want to be; so we become…nothing. Because now more than ever, the world is at our fingertips. Yet this unbridled choice is paralyzing; so instead of making a decision – we get overwhelmed. I learned the hard way. At age 22 I had a wicked tan from spending all day on the beach, and a hoarse voice from singing as an amateur rock star. But that’s about all I had. I was burnt out, fed up, and ready for change. In what could only be seen as an act of self-punishment, I dedicated myself to a world as diametrically opposed to my life up until that date as possible: accounting. After years crouched over a desk fumbling over tax returns, depreciation schedules, and the Master Tax Guide, I moved on to the more personable cousin in the numbers game - financial advice. And I started to notice a common belief among people from various backgrounds: ‘Money is complicated’. This was odd. To me it was numbers and decimals, and everything made perfect sense once added up. Yet case after case of confused six-figure professionals showed up at my office. What I realised was the skills required to make money, aren't the skills needed to distribute it effectively. Throughout the years, I have had the blessing of joining many people at the centre of their financial life. We simplified their money, which reduced decision fatigue, and they started performing better in every area of their life. Not only financially, but in their personal and professional lives too. Now, that role is evolving. I've moved away from one to one, and onto one to many. In a lot of ways I'm a cliche millennial - I want to make the world a better place. Personal finance appears to be my outlet of choice. And if my history of success has any indication – I am happy to say I do just that. As I'm on the other side of the world to most you fantastic folk - we may not be here at the same time, but ask away and I'll come back to you.
