The following is a list of novels under the Dean Wesley Smith name, plus a number of pen names that are open knowledge. Many ghost and pen name books are not on this list because he is under contractual obligations not to disclose that he wrote them. Many of Dean’s original novels are also under hidden pen names for marketing reasons.
Dean has also written books and comics for all three major comic book companies, Marvel, DC, and Dark Horse, and has done scripts for Hollywood. One movie was actually made.
Over his career he has also been an editor and publisher, first at Pulphouse Publishing, then for VB Tech Journal, then for Pocket Books.
Currently, he is writing thrillers and mystery novels under another name.
Fun read! I read half of it give or take, gonna come back to it when it's time to read the chapters I left out (reading everything Star Trek chronologically).
No introductin necessary, this is already the 5th book in the series. Some writers have appeared up to the allowed max. 3 times and even have added novels to the regular Star Trek franchise. See the nice piece by Dean Wesley Smith at the end. A bit more pessimistic (as usual) than is to my liking, this book is again packed with quality short stories that play in the Star Trek universe. The limitations put on the authors by the rules of the competition don't seem to stop people from participating and undoubtedly hoping to be published. We already know that there will be another chance with Strange New Worlds VI coming up. These are worthwile additions to the Star Trek franchise although i don't know up to what point they will be added to the official curriculum and chronicles of the official series. Exciting, fun, dramatic, romantic, ... name it and you will find it.
4 Stars. Another knock out Strange New Worlds anthology of short stories. Like the previous 4 SNW, I would have pick different stories for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place, but I did like all three of those. And like the first 4 books, there were some I did not care for, but this time only two that I skipped, one completely & one I just stopped reading & moved on to the nest one.
Another good collection of short stories, this time also featuring Enterprise. Some stories feel Mary Sue like, but others are good explorations of characters and situations. The one that stands out for me was Sevens relative, and what she went through when she thought Annika was dead. A good read.
