Ed Gosney I think I'd enjoy visiting Hobbiton. Maybe they have an extra room for me at Bag End! Much better than the sleeping quarters on the Pequod. If you go on a cruise, stay away from that ship.
Ed Gosney When I was young, I was friends with a couple of brothers, one my age and one a little older. Then one day, the family just seemed to disappear. I'm sure they just moved, but what if they had to leave, and leave quickly, because...?
Ed Gosney By doing a lot of reading. It inspires me to want to create my own stories.
Ed Gosney I'm working on formatting different aspects of my book, Prometheus Stumbles, for both print and electronic versions, and the short description that will go on the back of the print edition. I'm also working on a horror short story. It has a clown in it. It scares me to think about it!
Ed Gosney I think this is often a choice more than anything else. If you say you have writer's block, it gives you an excuse to not write. Granted, sometimes what you want to say or present on a page just don't come to you with the clarity that is sometimes there, but just write the scene the best way you can. Later you can change it, especially during the editing stage.
Ed Gosney I have a book that will be coming out later this summer (Prometheus Stumbles) that is based on a dream I had. I woke up one morning and wrote down everything I could remember for 2 hours, and it grew into a 120,000 word futuristic thriller.
Ed Gosney Read good writing, regardless of the genre, and write, obviously. Read fiction and nonfiction, and there are plenty of good writing books that will help you learn how to craft better fiction. And if you know that grammar isn't your strong suit, by all means read some grammar books. There are several entertaining ones, such as "Woe Is I."
Ed Gosney I think the best thing is when readers tell you how much they enjoyed reading your work, that you took them away from their "real" life for a short time and allowed them to "live" in a fantasy world that you created.
