We were very sad to hear that Professor William H Bush Jr (‘Bill’) died recently at the age of 82.

Bill Bush was Professor of Radiology and Director of Genitourinary Radiology at the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. He was the President of the Society of Uroradiology (USA) from 1998-2000 and a longstanding member of the European Society of Urogenital Radiology.  He keenly supported collaboration between the American and European Societies and participated in their combined meetings over the years.

Bill had a major interest in contrast media, particularly in reactions to contrast media and their management. He was a member of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Committee on Drugs and Contrast Media and a co-author of the ACR Contrast Media Manual for many years. Bill published many papers and lectured widely on contrast media reactions. He was a co-editor and a contributing author for the book Radiology Life Support (Rad-LS) which was widely recognised as an important source of information and practical advice.

Bill was a warm and friendly person who wore his professional distinction with modesty. He gave devoted support and care to his wife Janet, who died earlier this year after a long illness, and he leaves two daughters, Jane and Anne, and a granddaughter, Estelle.
