A website in Israel called Green Point, showcases gardening in the desert using fifty percent less water. Green Point was started in the 1960’s and best of all, is an example of how to practice sustainability in low water areas.

Hiking is a national pastime in Israel, and there are many hiking trails for the eco-tourist. The Israel National Trail is six hundred miles long and takes thirty to sixty days to complete. The Trail is located in undeveloped areas. But with villages dotted around and what’s called “Trail Angels” who provide hospitality and help to hikers. Many of the parks offer camping or have small eco lodging facilities.
