Everything coming to PBS in July 2024

Robert Carlyle in Cobra season 3.
Sky Max

June had a stellar lineup of shows on PBS, but July is going to be comparatively quiet on that front. To be sure, there are still new shows to enjoy, including the season premieres of British dramas Cobra and Hotel Portofino. There’s also the fourth season of the condensed version of one of PBS’ greatest hits: Antiques Roadshow Recut. That show edits down previously broadcast episodes of Antiques Roadshow into tight 30-minute installments.

PBS does have another strong lineup of documentaries in July, including Gods of Tennis, a look back at the iconic players from the ’70s and ’80s. Frontline and Nova both have a number of documentary specials throughout the month. PBS also has non-partisan coverage of the 2024 Republican National Convention. But that might be more for hardcore political junkies than a mainstream audience.

If you missed the best shows on PBS from June, you can still stream those online. But you will have to wait for the premiere dates listed below to catch everything coming to PBS in July.

What’s new on Peacock in July 2024
Sir Anthony Hopkins flanked by the men all dressed in Roman Empire gear in Those About to Die.

Spartacus fans may get Deja vu on Peacock in July, with the premiere of Those About to Die. Anthony Hopkins is starring in the series as Emperor Vespasian, and the show is about Roman gladiators. That's the proverbial bread and circuses before we get our literal bread and circuses with the 2024 Paris Olympics. NBC and Comcast shelled out a fortune for the streaming rights to the Olympics, and catching them live on Peacock beats having to watch the reruns on terrestrial TV.

The Amy Winehouse bio pic, Back To Black, is making its streaming debut on Peacock this month. Additionally, several fan-favorites are back including the Men in Black trilogy, Bruce Almighty, American Pie, and The Big Lebowski. But don't bet on Peacock's latest films to be sticking around for the entire summer, or even beyond July. Peacock has always had more sports events and talk shows than film or TV series. That programming imbalance is even more pronounced this summer, but it's perfect if you love sports.

What’s new on Paramount+ in July 2024
Peter Sarsgaard and Jessica Chastain in Memory.

Paramount+ doesn't have any new shows in July that can compare with the June premieres of Mayor of Kingstown and Criminal Minds: Evolution, both of which will have new episodes throughout the month. But Paramount+ doesn't call itself  "a mountain of content" for no reason. The Mafia Spies docuseries should attract true crime lovers, while children of all ages can enjoy Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years.

Jessica Chastain and Peter Sarsgaard's Memory is also arriving on Paramount+ this month after its short theatrical run in late 2023. Meanwhile, the music documentary miniseries, Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken, will premiere on July 9. But before that arrives, there are plenty of fan-favorite movies to watch on July 1 including the Star Trek films, the Die Hard films, Identity, The Truman Show, and more.
