World Cup: FIFA app made U.S. soccer fans’ tickets disappear

Fans with virtual tickets for some of Qatar’s first World Cup soccer games on Monday were left wondering if they’d be able to enter the stadium after the official FIFA ticketing app crashed shortly before kick-off.

U.S. fans with tickets for the Wales game, and England fans planning to see the clash with Iran, were among “thousands” of ticket-holders unable to access the FIFA app that held their virtual tickets, ESPN reported on Monday.

According to a fan group linked to the U.S. team, tickets “disappeared” from accounts and prevented fans from transferring tickets to other individuals to attend the game together.

With no way to enter the stadium, those experiencing issues with the app were told to make their way to the Doha Exhibition & Convention Center for assistance. Around 500 concerned fans went along in a bid to sort out the problem, ESPN reported.

The news outlet added that “hundreds” of affected England fans were still making their way to the stadium for the Iran game when the players walked onto the field at the Khalifa International Stadium for the 4 p.m. kick-off on Monday.

It’s not clear how many ticketed fans, if any, failed to enter the stadiums for the England and U.S. games.

Responding to the debacle, FIFA said in a statement: “Some spectators are currently experiencing an issue with accessing their tickets via the FIFA ticketing app. FIFA is working on solving the issue. In the meantime, fans who are not able to access their mobile tickets should check the email accounts they used to register with the ticketing app for further instructions.”

The world football body continued: “In case fans cannot access their email accounts, the stadium’s Ticket Resolution Point will be able to support. We thank fans for their understanding as we work to fix the issue as soon as possible.”

Already mired in controversy over migrant worker deaths and gay rights in the oil-rich nation, Qatar will want to ensure the ticketing issues are ironed out early on to prevent even more negative publicity from hitting the global sports event.

Best Buy has a surprisingly good Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 preorder deal
Samsung's unboxing of the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is coming out on July 24. That means it is pre-order season now. While Best Buy isn't necessarily the favorite of our collected Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 pre-order deals, it does pretty well for average consumers that don't have niche needs. And, as a result of Best Buy being Best Buy and working with lots of manufacturers, it has one of the widest-ranging catalogs of trade-in compatible phones out there. We're estimating that you can save up to $680 off of the 512GB version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, bringing its price down to $1,340 from $2,020, and come out with a $300 Best Buy e-Gift Card. Tap the button below to go check out the phone and deal yourself, or keep reading to see why we like the phone and how you can maximize your savings.

Why you should pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 from Best Buy
First things first, let's establish that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is the phone you want. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is the latest in the very popular series of Samsung folding phones. In fact, its predecessor and 5th iteration of the series, is sitting at the top of our list of the best folding phones. Preorders for the Fold 6 opened up at the same time as Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 preorders. With two gorgeous AMOLED screens, smooth transitions of 120Hz, and a slimmer-than-expected profile, there's no reason to think that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 won't follow in the 5's legacy. And, based on what we're seeing from an early hands-on Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 peek, we can only confirm that we like what we see. Our reviewer particularly praised the toughness of the phone, which has an aluminum "armor" on the exterior and strong Gorilla Glass screens. This is a phone that will likely stay with you for the long term if you're the type to not change phones but once in a few years.

This is no doubt the best Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 pre-order deal
Samsung's unboxing of the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

If you want to be the very first to get one of the newest, greatest Samsung phones, you're probably pretty excited right now. That's because the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is coming out on the 24, which is just about two weeks away from the date this is being written. And that means it is pre-order season. When we explored Galaxy Z Flip 6 pre-order deals, we found a fairly robust landscape with a ton of best options for you depending on your carrier of choice. Unfortunately, though, the same does not apply for the more expensive Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. When looking at Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 pre-order deals we kept finding that Samsung itself was (usually) your best choice. Tap the button below to see the Samsung page and start making your order or keep reading below to see why other retailers are struggling to keep up the pace.

Why you should pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 from Samsung
Pre-ordering the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 from Samsung nets you a number of benefits. The first, which is largely superficial but won't fit in with the numerical arguments to come, is the fact that Samsung has reserved some color variations for their own shop. This includes the white and the special "Crafted Black" with a special textured exterior. Note that Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 cases are already out, however, so you can always just get a textured case if you want that feel. Also note that Samsung online exclusive colors are having a delayed shipment and aren't expected to arrive at your home until by August 7th, a full two weeks after launch.
