After years of wishing, Persona games are coming to Nintendo Switch

In today’s June Nintendo Direct Mini, Atlus revealed that Persona 5 Royal, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 3 Portable are coming to Nintendo Switch.

Persona 5 Royal will be the first one to be released on October 21. Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable will arrive later. Earlier this month during the Xbox & Bethesda showcase, Atlus previously revealed that the three games would be released on Xbox and appear on Xbox Game Pass as well.

Shortly after, Atlus also confirmed a PC release for Persona 5 Royal and Persona 3 Portable via Steam. Persona 4 Golden has already been out on PC since 2020.

The mainline Persona games were primarily on PlayStation platforms, with the occasional spin-offs also released on other platforms such as PC and Nintendo Switch. Persona 5 Striker s and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax are recent examples. However, now the Persona series can be experienced by new players as a result of expanding its platform reach.

Persona 3 Portable was first released on the PlayStation Portable in 2011 here in the west. Persona 4 Golden is an enhanced port of the 2008 PS2 game for the PlayStation Vita; it was released in 2012.

Persona 5 was first launched in September 2016 in Japan and in April 2017 in the west for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Persona 5 Royal is an enhanced version of the game for PlayStation 4. Earlier this month, it was also announced to receive a native PlayStation 5 port.

So far, it’s unknown whether Persona 5 Royal or Persona 3 Portable will be verified for Steam Deck. However, Persona 4 Golden is, so there’s a good chance that it will be for the other two games.

The next Nintendo Direct, confirmed earlier this year alongside a Switch successor, is nearly upon us. Nintendo took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm that a lengthy Nintendo Direct is just one day away. This is shaping up to be quite a significant Direct for the Nintendo Switch, as it's quite possibly the last one that we'll get without knowing more about whatever the hybrid gaming platform's follow-up is going to be.

With unreleased Nintendo Switch games like Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition and Metroid Prime 4 still on the horizon, we know Nintendo has some important upcoming games it can talk about. There are bound to be some surprises as well, so all Nintendo fans should be tuning in. If you're planning to do just that, we've rounded up all the necessary information you need to know before watching the June 2024 Nintendo Direct.
When is the June 2024 Nintendo Direct?
The June 2024 Nintendo Direct will begin at 7 a.m. PT on Tuesday, June 18. Nintendo says the presentation will last "roughly 40 minutes," so it'll be wrapped up well before 8 a.m. PT.

5 video game reveals we’re dying to see this summer

It’s the most exciting time of year to be a video game fan, as almost every notable video game publisher is getting ready to drop new showcases highlighting upcoming games. Across Summer Game Fest, Xbox Games Showcase, and the next Nintendo Direct, we’ll have a ton of new video games to be excited about. Although titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 have already been confirmed for some of these shows, the fun part of this summer gaming marathon is predicting what’s going to show up.

There are five announcements in particular that I’m hoping to see during this summer’s showcases. From games that have leaked, but not been officially confirmed to titles announced years ago that have gone dark since, each of these will likely jump to the top of my personal most anticipated list if they are shown off during a showcase this summer. With some luck, they’ll be out not long after.

The Nintendo Switch just got 2 surprise games — and they’re both worth grabbing

If you were unable to catch this week's Nintendo IndieWorld showcase, then you missed a surprisingly loaded show. Lorelei and the Laser Eyes got a May release date, WayForward showed off its Yars' Revenge revival, and Steamworld Heist 2 got an exciting reveal. In the midst of all those headlines, two smaller games were surprise released on the platform: Stitch and Sticky Business. Don't sleep on either of them, as they're both worth a purchase.

Both games are ports of previously released games, but both went a bit under the radar upon their original launch. Sticky Business modestly launched last summer on PC, whereas Stitch has actually been around since 2022 as an Apple Arcade exclusive. The latter even has an Apple Vision Pro version now that can be played in mixed reality. I can't blame anyone for missing either, but their Switch releases offer a good opportunity to catch up with some quiet hidden gems.
