If you own Final Fantasy 7 Remake, you can’t upgrade to Intergrade with PS Plus

Final Fantasy 7: Remake Intergrade and the Intermission DLC are both part of July’s PS Plus Extra offerings, but players who already own the base version of the game have discovered that they cannot upgrade to the PS5 bundle.

PS Plus recently expanded to consist of a three-tier structure that incorporates elements of the now-defunct PlayStation Now service. The Essential tier is no different than what PS + originally was, offering store discounts and three free games at the beginning of each month, while the Extra and Premium tiers offer more rewards. Extra members are entitled to download a library of PS4 and PS5 titles, with new games added every month, while Premium members get all those benefits, plus the option to download PSP, PS2, and PSP games, as well as stream PS3 titles.

July is the first month that new titles were added to the Extra and Premium services, and this month saw the addition of many high-quality games, including the brand-new title Stray, as well as the very popular Final Fantasy 7: Remake Intergrade + Intermission. This version is specifically upgraded for the PS5, but is also bundled with the Intermission DLC starring Yuffie. However, when players who already owned FF7: Remake on PS4 attempt to get the new version and DLC, they are met with an error message and are unable to claim the upgrade.

Players who try to upgrade were given the following message: “You can’t buy this product for the following reasons. You already own the following products, which conflict with the product you’re trying to buy: Final Fantasy VII Remake.” While the PS4 version of the game can be upgraded to the PS5 version for free already, this still locks players out of claiming the DLC chapter, which cannot be downloaded separately from the bundle.

Unless the issue is fixed, anyone who owned FF7: Remake prior to downloading it as part of PS Plus Extra would still need to pay $20 for the DLC, while new players get it for “free” with the service.

This is not the first issue PlayStation players have had with FF7: Remake offerings through PS Plus. The base game was previously offered on PS4 via PS Plus, however, when the free Intergrade upgrade was released, those who got the game via PS Plus were initially unable to claim the upgrade. This was later fixed, thankfully. So, while it is a massive disappointment to see this near-identical issue repeated, there is hope that a solution will be implemented soon.

PlayStation 5 players have been raving about the second part of the FF7 remake project Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. As with the first part, it was made clear well in advance that this game would be a PlayStation exclusive at launch, however, we did eventually get Remake of the first part on PC around a year later. This gives PC players hope that the same treatment will be given to Rebirth, but the big question becomes how long will we have to wait this time? Is it possible to see it come to PC storefronts faster than its prequel, or will we need to bide our time avoiding spoilers for months on end? Here's our best estimate as to when you can expect to see Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC.
What is the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PC release date?

The sad fact of the matter is we don't have an official release date for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC or any other platform at this time. But there is reason to at least hope that the wait won't be as long this time around. Our only clue is that the marketing for Rebirth states that it is a PlayStation 5 exclusive until at least May 29, 2024. That's exactly three months after its initial release.

Of the three games available for no additional cost with a PlayStation Plus Essential subscription this February, the best game isn’t the highest-profile one. A lot of attention is going to Foamstars, the odd multiplayer game Square Enix launched free on PS Plus, but the real gem of February 2024’s PS Plus Essential lineup is Rollerdrome from Roll7 and Private Division.

First released for PS5 and PC in August 2022, I previously described this game as Max Payne meets Skate. Essentially, Rollerdrome is a sports combat game where players must roller-skate around and do tricks in order to accrue ammo used to shoot enemies with guns. It’s a simple gameplay loop and premise that Rollerdrome gets the most out of, and it's a must-play for those looking for some simple yet satisfying action.

In Rollerdrome, players control a character named Kara Hassan as she ascends the ranks in the titular sport, which sees “players” combat each other with deadly weapons. While many of the enemies Kara takes on are mostly static, she can skate around on a pair of rollerblades. Rollerdrome features a full-on combo system like a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater or Skate titles, although it’s not as punishing if you mess up an input or chain together a combo properly.
