AT&T’s New Data Plans Explained

— The current plan provides unlimited data usage for $30 per month. If you’re a current customer, you can keep it.

— A new plan called DataPlus will provide 200 megabytes of data for $15 per month. If you go over, you pay another $15 for 200 megabytes. AT&T says this plan will suffice for people who surf the Web, send e-mail and use applications like Facebook. The data allowance is enough for 1,000 e-mails without attachments, or 400 Web pages, but only 20 minutes of streaming video.

— A plan called DataPro will provide 2 gigabytes of data per month (10 times more than DataPlus) for $25 per month. If you go over, you pay another $10 for 1 gigabyte. AT&T says 98 percent of smart phone users use less than 2 gigabytes, which is the equivalent of more than three hours of streaming video.

The prices are in addition to the voice part of the plan, which costs at least $40 per month, plus taxes and fees that vary by jurisidiction. Data use over Wi-Fi does not count towards the limits.

Related news: AT&T announced they will be dropping their current unlimited data plan.

An absurd new phone is coming to crush the iPhone and Android
A render of the Up Mobile smartphone.

Just when you thought Web3 -- the name given to a decentralized version of the internet -- had been consigned to the history books, along comes a new smartphone project to try to convince you otherwise, and, in an attempt to ensure it appears as up-to-date as possible, adds another buzzword to the list: AI.

What I’m talking about is called the Up Mobile, and if mention of Web3 and AI together weren't enough, it also has some blockchain technology inside for good measure. If this were Buzzword Bingo, someone would be shouting "House!" right about now.

The OnePlus Nord 4 has something I haven’t seen on a phone in ages
A person holding the OnePlus Nord 4.

Is the OnePlus Nord 4 the best-looking Nord phone yet? It’s certainly the boldest and the first to do something really intriguing with the materials, too. The Nord 4 has an all-metal unibody, a way of manufacturing smartphones that has fallen by the wayside over the years after phones made using a blend of metal and glass became more popular.

What does having a metal unibody mean? It refers to a single piece of metal being machined so it's the entire chassis of the phone rather than sandwiched between the screen and another material like glass on the back. The first thing you notice is that the phone feels great in your hand. Because the curve of the chassis is uninterrupted by a switch between materials, it’s completely smooth and avoids any sharpness or uncomfortable ridges. Even the tiny antenna bands — the plastic inserts that assist with cellular and Wi-Fi reception — are flush with the surface, and you won’t notice them just through touch.
