It’s been a minute since the streaming world has seen a solid legal thriller, so we’re glad that Presumed Innocent decided to drop in. The first episodic adaptation of Scott Turow’s 1987 novel of the same name (which was adapted for film in 1990 with Harrison Ford in the lead role), Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Rusty Sabich, a Chicago prosecutor who ends up on the other side of the law when a colleague he was having an affair with turns up dead.

Everything coming to PBS in July 2024
Robert Carlyle in Cobra season 3.

June had a stellar lineup of shows on PBS, but July is going to be comparatively quiet on that front. To be sure, there are still new shows to enjoy, including the season premieres of British dramas Cobra and Hotel Portofino. There's also the fourth season of the condensed version of one of PBS' greatest hits: Antiques Roadshow Recut. That show edits down previously broadcast episodes of Antiques Roadshow into tight 30-minute installments.

PBS does have another strong lineup of documentaries in July, including Gods of Tennis, a look back at the iconic players from the '70s and '80s. Frontline and Nova both have a number of documentary specials throughout the month. PBS also has non-partisan coverage of the 2024 Republican National Convention. But that might be more for hardcore political junkies than a mainstream audience.

Everything leaving Netflix in July 2024
Keanu Reeves as Neo stopping dozens of oncoming bullets in The Matrix Reloaded.

There's good news for Netflix subscribers in July. Compared to many of the other months of the year, Netflix isn't losing a lot of popular titles. But that's not to say that some great movies aren't going out the door when July comes to an end. Classics like American Graffiti, Smokey and the Bandit, and Fatal Attraction are all pulling away. The Matrix trilogy is also setting up shop on another streamer, but you can almost set your clock by how quickly those films will make the streaming rounds.

While not all of the departing movies are fan-favorites, it's down to you to scan the list of impending Netflix departures and making your own viewing plans. It can easy to forget to do that, so write it down if  you have to. In the meantime, check out our roundup of everything leaving Netflix in July 2024. As always, our picks for the month are in bold.

What’s new on HBO and Max in July 2024
Godzilla and Kong race into battle in a still from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

The monsters are coming to Max in July, and that's not even including the dragons from House of the Dragon season 2, which also continues this month. Instead, we mean the latest installment of the MonsterVerse, Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, which was a box office hit earlier this year. Additionally, Max is adding Love Lies Bleeding, A24's sleeper flick starring Kristen Stewart and Katy O'Brian as a pair of lovers who get sucked into the criminal underworld.

Football fans should be happy to hear that Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the team as it prepares for the new season this fall. Comic book fans also have two things to look forward to in July: The premiere of the Harley Quinn spinoff, Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, and the animated feature Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Two. Max is also adding a lot of fan-favorite films on the 1st of the month, in addition to several unscripted series from Discovery's channels.
