Apple will overhaul its Settings app across iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS 15 when it unveils the updates at WWDC24, according to a report Friday. In other words, not everything at the big developers conference will be about AI.
Update: Control Center, which provides easy access to frequently used features on iPhones (as well as Macs and iPads), should see changes, too. Apple will upgrade it “with a new music widget and improvements to how it operates smart home appliances,” Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman wrote over the weekend in his PowerOn newsletter.
Setting app revamp expected in iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS 15
The Settings app will be redesigned across Apple operating systems, Gurman said in an X post Friday. Users should expect a new user interface for Settings, a reorganized layout and an improved search. (That better search actually could involve AI. We’ll see.)
“A lot of people using macOS 15 and iOS 18 keep mentioning the revamp to Settings,” Gurman wrote. “Obviously not a huge deal, but it’s getting a new UI with a reorganized, cleaner layout that’s more simple to navigate. It also has much improved search. There are also updates to Control Center.”

Even though changes in the Settings app and Control Center are not the world’s most earth-shattering news, people reacted with enthusiasm (and in some cases, imagery!).
“I am really excited to see how well Apple integrates AI into the UI,” one user said. It’s possible AI could appear widely, with features like suggested customizations and the like.
A post from Beta Profiles, below, shows Settings and Control Center in iOS beta.

The post below from AppleTrack shows a concept image of a possible new iOS Settings app from designer @upinthezone. We’ll see if it turns out to be on target when Apple unveils iOS 18 at WWDC24. Apple’s annual developers conference kicks off June 10 with the eagerly anticipated keynote address, during which execs will showcase new software features.
