The owners of a fish and chip shop in Cornwall have said goodbye to customers for the final time. Family-run Chandler's Plaice, in Hayle, closed its doors on Friday (July 5) after a decade under the same ownership.
In a post shared on Facebook, Michelle and Matt thanked loyal customers for their support over the years. They added the fish and chip shop has been sold to new owners and would be reopening soon.
The full post read: "After 10 years preparing and serving fish and chips, we have made the decision to sell our business. We would like to thank all our customers old & new for supporting us over all of those years.

"We will be closing our doors for the final time at the end of this coming Friday evening, we hope to see as many of you as possible before we go but if we don’t then thank you all so much for the memories you have provided us with. Watch out for the new owners of the business re-opening soon… Thanks again Michelle & Matt x We will miss you all..."
Dozens of customers were quick to share their disappointment at the news and wish Michelle and Matt the best for the future. One person commented: "Oh I must pop in to see you, yummy fish and chips, hope they are as good when the new owners take over."
While another wrote: "Oh no, you are the best in town. Fact. It’s gonna take somebody very special to continue with the absolute best and consistency you ALWAYS provide."
Someone else said: "We will miss you and the friendly service. Always enjoyed your fish and chips when we came down on holiday. Something we always looked forward to. Thank you so much and wish you the very best for the future.
A fourth added: "Sad news for us but good news for you, always enjoy seeing you and obviously the best fish and chips ever. Thank you with providing us with the best food but it's time to go and enjoy your best life. Take care."
