A man was taken to hospital with a stab wound after a fight broke out in a town centre. Two people have been arrested in connection to the incident, which took place in Newquay Central Square at around 11.10pm on Saturday, July 6.

Devon and Cornwall Police officers were called to the scene following reports that a fight had broken out an a man had sustained a stab wound. The victim, a 20-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment and was later discharged.

Two people were arrested following the incident and have been released on police bail until October 3, a spokesperson for the police force said.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 causing grievous bodily harm with intent. A 22-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.

"A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Police attended an incident in Central Square, Newquay, at 11.10pm on Saturday, where it was reported that a fight had occurred and that a man had sustained a stab wound.
