Cornwall's biggest road will again be closed this weekend as work to open the new dual carriageway between Carland Cross and Chiverton ramps up for a June opening. National Highways is advising drivers to plan their journeys ahead of weekend closures on the A30 in Cornwall.

As part of National Highways’ A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross £330m dualling upgrade, the road will be closed from 8pm today (Friday June 14) to 6am on Monday (June 17) between Chiverton and Summercourt. These closures are now focused on surfacing and infrastructure work along the route as the government-owned company prepares to open the new dual carriageway.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: "During our closures, National Highways is urging users to plan ahead, follow the diversion routes and signage in place and not sat navs and allow more time for their journey."
