    Costanza No More

    Ekster Senate Cardholder

Don’t let dad be a George Costanza: The Ekster Senate Cardholder is CR’s Editor’s Choice for slim wallets. Its overall design and exquisite packaging make it a great gift. It includes a very elegant-looking cash strap and single cardholder to hold bills on the outside with the company’s logo emblazoned on the front and a slot on the outside for things like a MetroCard. The company includes an extra strap without the cardholder, to slim things down even further, inside a very beautiful box.

    Herschel Novel Duffle Bag, 42.5L

Lightweight, relatively affordable, and available in an array of bold colorways, the Herschel Novel duffle is a great option for kids, teens, and adults. It features faux-leather handles as well as a padded crossbody strap, and it’s made of a thin polyester fabric that’s water-resistant.

Available in 12 colorways, including a patterned Nature CamoQuail Crosshatch, and a neutral black and tan combo.

    Travel in Style

    Yeti Crossroads 27L

If the dad you know is on the go, a great bag is a must. With a 27-liter capacity, this Yeti travel backpack can seamlessly transition from the plane to the hiking trails. It features a water-resistant exterior, sealed zippers, and a main cargo load inside with compartments and cuffs to hold water bottles. The Yeti may cost more than many similar bags, but double-reinforced (with bar-tacked stitching) grab handles and an extra protective layer at the base could make it last longer than some of the others, says evaluator and frequent flyer Michael Frank.

Available in three sizes and six colors, including Alpine Brown and Black

This basic, hard-shell carry-on by Away impresses in our tests for impact resistance and construction quality. Away is also a top brand for carry-on luggage based on our CR member survey. The bag’s special features include a compartment divider, leather luggage tag, and laundry bag. It has an unusually generous limited lifetime warranty and, like a mattress, a 100-day trial period so you can see how you like it on the road.

    Coleman Cooler Quad Chair

Elevate Dad’s beach setup with a collapsible beach chair he’s sure to appreciate. This versatile option is also prime for going to barbecues, sporting events, camping trips, and a host of outdoor events. Take the Coleman out of its matching travel bag (which features a shoulder strap and feels lightweight when carrying it from the parking lot to the sand), unfold its accordionlike legs, give it a shake, and just like that, you have a sturdy outdoor chair with barely any effort. When you’re ready to leave, it collapses in seconds and slips back into the carrying bag with close to no effort.

The Coleman chair features two compartments—a double-zippered insulated pack that hangs down from the left armrest and holds four beverage cans, and a pouch with a mesh front on the right side of the chair, which is roomy enough to hold books. The right armrest has a built-in mesh cup holder that holds a Stanley cup, Hydro Flask, or other bottle for water.

    Osprey Daylite Plus 20L

For those who love to hit the trails, consider a hydration backpack. With lighter loads, this Osprey Daylite hydration backpack is a very comfy carry, especially for shorter jaunts under 2 hours. The longish back panel and adjustable sternum strap make this pack easy to fit long or short torsos, and two stretchy side pockets are large enough for carrying a water bottle or two if you want to ditch the reservoir during the week. The Daylite’s interior is large enough to accommodate both a paperback and an iPad Mini. The main hold is roomy enough for spare clothes and more, and has a reservoir sleeve that’s padded, so it doubles as a laptop slot (for up to 15-inch models). The HydraPak Shape-Shift 2L reservoir worked seamlessly with this pack.

    Mail-Order Meat

Snake River Farms American Wagyu Gold Grade Filet Mignon/

Snake River Farms specializes in American Wagyu—a crossbreed between the Japanese Wagyu and continental breeds. Due to the meat’s above-par marbling, Snake River Farms’ steaks can achieve scores above USDA Prime. The American Wagyu Gold Grade filet mignon was the favorite pick in our recent evaluation, while cowboy steak is also a stunner that would gratify any meat lover. This was also the best packaging of the three brands.

    Henckels Premio 8" Chef's Knife

For the aspiring foodie in your life, a great chef’s knife can make all the difference. Henckels has been making knives in Germany for nearly 300 years, and its expertise in design is on full display with this knife. The Permio’s handle is contoured with no sharp edges, resulting in a knife that’s extremely comfortable to hold. It also excels at force transmission from handle to blade, which means you don’t need to exert as much effort when cutting.

    Dash Safe Slice Mandoline

If “safety first” is Dad’s motto, this stand-up mandoline from Dash can’t be beat. Its safety features are great for people who fear traditional mandolines or have mobility issues. Unlike other mandolines where the blade is stationary and exposed, this mandoline has an internal guillotine that slices your food, not your fingers.

    Stay Sharp

Chef's Choice Model 15XV Knife Sharpener

The Chef’s Choice Model 15XV is second to none when it comes to easy, complete sharpening. It removes most of the guesswork and helps you maintain a perfect angle, and it can sharpen pretty much any knife you’ll ever own—even serrated bread knives or sushi and sashimi knives, which are sharpened on only one side.

The tool is designed to sharpen every straight-edged knife to a precise 15-degree angle, which is a sweet spot for most new knives. It features three settings: sharpening, honing, and polishing. There’s no setup, no cleanup, and no stress.

    Pizza as Love

    Ooni Karu 12 Pizza Oven

What better way to say, “Your pizza is the best!” than giving Pop an outdoor pizza oven? After cooking 18 pies and taste-testing them with family and friends, our editor’s pick for the best overall outdoor pizza oven is the Ooni Karu 12 Pizza Oven. That’s because of its ease of use, its high quality, and the smoky, wood-fired flavor it brought to each pie. It can fit pizzas up to 12 inches and comes with a chimney cap.

The Char-Broil Kamander is one of four non-ceramic kamado grills in our ratings, all of which score similarly. The Kamander hits the sweet spot between price and performance. It’s made from double-walled stainless steel and has a powder-coated finish. On high heat, the Kamander can get to 1,000° F, helping it to cook pizza crust perfectly in our tests. As with ceramic models, it has upper and lower dampers for controlling airflow, but because of its metal construction, it’s far lighter—at 115 pounds—than most kamado grills.

Grill Daddy Grand Grill Daddy Platinum

If you have an urge to splurge on the grill aficionado in your life, this top-tier grill brush features an effective steam-cleaning head and crevice tool. Its sturdy metal design includes a hollow handle that you fill with water. An on/off switch in the handle lets you choose whether to use water to assist in cleaning—you can shut the water off if you’re cleaning the grates while they’re cool, since the steam function requires warm grates to work.

The cleaning head’s metal bristles are exceptionally strong and effective, and the brush features a second narrower bristled head for cleaning between grates. CR’s grilling pro and senior home writer, Paul Hope, said the Grill Daddy was the only brush in the evaluation "that feels as if it’s designed to last a lifetime as opposed to just a few summers, since the handle is heavy-gauge metal and the heads are both sturdy and, when they inevitably wear out, replaceable."

"I own five grills I’ve cleaned hundreds of times, and I simply haven’t used a better grill brush," Hope noted.

    Fuel for the Day

The Oxo Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder is a fantastic grinder and one of the more affordable models that does well in our tests. It receives strong scores in our grind performance tests, making it a good choice for any brew method you want to use. It also scores well in our tests for convenience, thanks to its clearly marked and easy-to-use controls. Our testers found it extremely easy to clean, too, because it has a removable hopper. It features 15 grind settings, a 12-ounce bean hopper (one of the largest in our tests), an auto-stop feature, and a timer.

Let Dad enjoy a coffeehouse creation at home with the Ninja Specialty CM401, a terrific all-in-one machine capable of brewing hot and iced coffee, lattes, macchiatos, and other specialty brews. In our tests it receives an Excellent rating for brew performance, and its glass carafe is easy to handle. This model is also packed with features, including an over-ice brew mode for iced coffee, a built-in milk frother, brew-strength control, and brew-size adjustment for travel mugs to full carafes. It’s one of the most versatile coffee makers we’ve tested.

With summer in full swing, your top Pop may want to brew up a cold cup of coffee. The Cuisinart Automatic Cold Brew Coffeemaker DCB-10 performed better than automatic models that cost almost twice as much. It does well across all our tests, and it’s the only model to receive a Very Good rating for ease of cleaning. Most parts are dishwasher-safe, unlike the other models in its class. This Cuisinart comes with a glass carafe (not plastic, like some competing models) and brews in 25 to 45 minutes.

Help Dad stay fueled on the go: This stellar mug from Thermos keeps drinks hot for an impressive 7½ hours. It also has an easy-to-clean lid, which earned a rating of Very Good in our review. One of the three lid gaskets can’t be removed or replaced, so when it goes, so goes your mug. The tapered design means the mug will fit in the cup holder of most cars. Bonus: It has a handy tea hook on the underside of the lid, so you can suspend a tea bag in water without losing it inside.

    Essential Tech

Let Dad enjoy his audiobook in peace! The Monoprice BT-300ANC headphones are a steal. While they don’t have the latest features—like a monitor mode or adjustable noise cancellation—they deliver where it counts: above-average sound quality (for when Mom wants to rock her favorite playlist) and fantastic sound-blocking abilities (for when she needs to tune everyone else out).

    Comfort Is Key

    Logitech ERGO K860 Keyboard

Give Dad’s hands a break. The Logitech Ergo K860 is a Bluetooth keyboard featuring a tented, split design, effectively reducing ulnar deviation and wrist pronation. The model has a comfortable palm rest and legs up front to adjust the tilt angle, allowing the wrists to rest in a neutral position while typing. The membrane keys are easy to activate and include a number pad, shortcut/media control options, and programmable functions. It’s compatible with Mac and Windows.

The stainless steel Cuisinart Cleanburn Fire Pit burned beautifully in our tests regardless of how large a fire we built in it. It’s also fast to light and burns wood thoroughly, resulting in less smoke and less waste. Cleaning is simple, too—the ash collects at the center, in part because of its rounded shape, and falls into a dedicated tray that you can remove easily.

This 12-volt general-use drill is light enough that Dad won’t tire when swapping out an overhead light fixture but forceful enough to bore holes in hardwood without bogging down. That’s what you get with a brushless motor. The DeWalt DCD701F2 ranks at the top for its power and speed scores, and its price earns it a CR Best Buy badge of honor.

For more options: Best Cordless Drills

If your dad is a fan of power tools, this electric chainsaw could do the trick for Father’s Day. The Worx WG303.1 is a corded model that’s well-suited for the lighter work you might need to do close to the house, like trimming hedges, cutting a small amount of firewood, or breaking down a fallen limb. It’s easy to control, with a strong score for handling. That’s thanks in large part to how light it is, just 11 pounds.

Maybe the best present for Dad is more time outside, tending to the greenery and contemplating the glory of nature. The Ego ST1502SA edges and trims as well as the best gas models in our ratings, and even clears through tall grass and weeds. At 9 pounds, it’s extremely light. And because this Ego is battery-powered, it’s easy to start and operate.

    Muscle Melt

    Therabody Theragun Mini

The ultraportable Theragun Mini was one of the quietest massage devices we tested. It has a wedge-shaped handle and is one of the best devices for reducing problematic wrist postures. “I like the fact that it is small to hold, and I love how easy it is to use and charge. It’s compact and easily transportable,” one user said. For overall portability and quiet, this could be a top choice. Bonus: It’s on sale for a nice discount at Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart right now.

Give Pop the gift of a great night’s sleep with a pillow he can adjust to his liking. The Coop Home Goods Premium Adjustable Loft pillow is made of shredded memory foam and earns an Excellent rating in our tests for support, no matter your size and whether you sleep on your side or back. “It’s a very versatile pillow,” says Chris Regan, who oversees pillow testing at CR, in part because it comes with a kit with extra foam so that you can adjust the filling. This pillow, which is recommended by CR, also keeps its shape well, showing little or no change in height or fluffiness in our resilience tests.

    Glerups Shoe With Leather Sole

The Glerups were an overall top-tier pick for CR’s entire team of slipper evaluators. The felted wool upper is warm, breathable, and not at all itchy. “Feels like I’m wearing nothing at all,” said Perry Santanachote, a writer and one of four evaluators. “They’re super-light and easy to move around in.”

When the working day is done, help Dad snooze in comfort. This Brooklinen set (a bit of a splurge) will fit a 14-inch mattress and one that’s not as deep. Our testers note that these sheets don’t shrink as much as some other cotton sheets we’ve tested. They earn a Very Good rating for both fit and shrinkage. Though they do tend to get smaller during washes, they don’t deform all that much over time. Luxe Core sheets are on the softer side based on our sensory test.

Users appreciated the trimmer’s smart features, such as the digital setting to auto-adjust the trimmer length and travel lock. Treat for the Tush

    Tushy Classic

Upgrade Dad’s alone time with a bidet attachment for the toilet. The Tushy Classic has a dial to adjust the water pressure as well as three settings fore and aft. A few users said it was easier to move themselves rather than adjust the nozzle, so if your dad has limited mobility, this bidet might not be a great option. Most users in a recent CR study found the Classic easy to install and had no trouble with figuring out the water-pressure dial or nozzle adjustment switch.
