    Ancheer’s Electric Bike for Adults is functional and scored well in several of CR’s tests, including the ones for range, acceleration, braking, and climbing a hill with power assist. Although it takes the electric motor half a moment to kick in while in pedal assist mode, it provides plenty of power for cruising, either with pedal assist using one of five power levels, or with a motorcycle-like twist throttle when pedal assist is turned off. The bike’s most intriguing feature is a type of cruise control that allows the rider to let go of the twist throttle after about 8 seconds or so. The bike maintains the last throttle position until the brakes are activated or the throttle is moved again. (Speed will increase or decrease depending upon the grade of the surface you’re riding on.) Seven speeds make pedaling easier without electric power, although not too much easier during steep hill climbs. The riding position is upright and comfortable, and the display, although small, is easy to see, with dark LCD characters. This model also has a sub-$500 price tag to recommend it, notable since compelling models in this price range are rare.
