Toyota builds solid, efficient, and reliable vehicles. Most of their models do well in our testing, thanks to their impressive fuel economy, comfortable rides, quiet cabins, and easy access. The brand was pioneering with hybrids, starting with the original Prius. That expertise is on display in the numerous hybrids now offered, such as the Corolla, Corolla Cross, Camry, Crown, RAV4, Sienna, and Venza. This year will see a new Land Cruiser and Tacoma each offered with a hybrid that balances power and efficiency, and a redesigned Camry sedan. The plug-in versions are noted by names with “Prime.” The GR86 and Supra sports cars are certain to entertain driving enthusiasts. But it isn’t all rosy: The Sequoia and Tundra were disappointing in our tests, and the electric bZ4X SUV is mediocre. Overall reliability for the brand continues to be superb.
