Talking Cars 424: Driving the 2023 Dodge Hornet

An old name is resurrected to put some sting in Dodge’s lineup

Main theme: The podcast panel dives into the Dodge Hornet and discusses how it drives, and the overall feel and functionality of the interior, and makes the inevitable comparison with its Alfa Romeo Tonale stablemate. The good news is that we were mostly impressed with the powerful turbocharged four-cylinder’s performance—except for some low-speed hiccups. But we were stung by some disappointing and critical features, such as an uncomfortable driving position and frustrating controls. As we put more miles on our test car, time will tell whether the Hornet’s performance boost is enough to make up for the small SUV’s many shortfalls. (Read the Dodge Hornet first drive.)

Audience question: Automakers seem to be discontinuing models at an increasing rate. Should the buyer of a used car that has been discontinued be concerned, especially if the goal is to hang on to the car for 10-plus years?
