Earlier this year, Citrix announced our vision for the Citrix platform – a unified platform that gives you zero-trust access, best-in-class app and desktop virtualization, and high-performance application delivery with comprehensive security. As a part of this platform strategy we radically simplified our offerings and packed them full of value to help customers solve a wide expanse of application delivery challenges in this hybrid multi-cloud world.

What’s Changing

We received overwhelming demand from Citrix customers requesting access to XenServer 8 – to make it easier for you to deploy XenServer for your Citrix workloads, effective June 3 XenServer Premium is now included with the following subscriptions:

  • Citrix for Private Cloud
  • Citrix Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud
  • Citrix Platform License

XenServer provides our Citrix platform customers the premium hypervisor capabilities optimized for Citrix workloads. Leveraging XenServer for your Citrix workloads helps you save money on 3rd party hypervisor solutions, while getting the most out of your Citrix deployment, with optimizations for Citrix only available from XenServer, such as PVS Accelerator, Intellicache, and MCS Read Cache.

How to get XenServer licenses – three scenarios

We want everyone to have access to XenServer 8 for Citrix infrastructure and workloads. Here’s how you get it depending on your current Citrix licensing:

Customers who are on prior Citrix offerings. Customers who have already purchased one of the 3 new Citrix offerings prior to June 3rd, 2024. Customers who will purchase one of the Citrix offerings starting on June 3rd, 2024.
Customers are still entitled to Citrix Hypervisor until it goes End of Life in 2025.

To request access to XenServer 8, get in touch with your sales rep or partner to request the
XenServer promotion.

If you purchased Citrix for Private Cloud, Citrix Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud, or Citrix Platform License prior to June 3rd 2024, you can work with your sales rep or partner to request the XenServer promotion. Effective June 3rd, XenServer Premium Edition is included as an entitlement in the following 3 Citrix offerings:
  • Citrix for Private Cloud
  • Citrix Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud
  • Citrix Platform License

Customers who purchase after June 3rd can allocate XenServer licenses from MyCitrix. To allocate the XenServer licenses, follow the steps in this article. You will be required to fill out a survey about your XenServer usage prior to allocation.
