St. Paul police investigate homicide in Como neighborhood

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Police in St. Paul say they're investigating a homicide Friday afternoon.

The homicide happened on the 900 block of Hatch Avenue. 

Police say they got a call around 7:30 Friday morning about a possible death at home. The caller said that a woman approached them saying that someone was dead inside the home. 

Officer responded and did find an unresponsive man inside the house. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 37-year-old Andrew Gutzman.

While police were on scene they encountered a large dog in the home that was aggressive. The dog bit an officer and was shot and killed. 

Police are talking to the woman who made the claim. They have not made an arrest. 

Police said during the press conference that they were familiar with the home and had been there on numerous incidents. Since the beginning of the year they have been called to the home around 25 times.
