Two teenagers who died after the motorbike they were on crashed have been identified by police.

Wayne Hodgson, 18, and Bobby Grimes, 13, died after being hit by a car on Middridge Road, close to the Rushyford roundabout near Newton Aycliffe, shortly before 12:00 BST on Friday.

Mr Hodgson's family said he was "a loving son, brother, nephew and uncle" and that his loss had left a "massive hole in our hearts and lives".

Bobby's family paid tribute to their "cheeky boy" and said he would "never be forgotten".

The police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the deaths, but were still appealing for witnesses to come forward.
