Wow, I was pretty surprised to see how bad this movie is. Really confused by the positive reviews. Tombstone was only a few years later and was a 5 star movie, this movie is a 2 star in comparison. City Slickers is honestly a better 'Western' movie than this one if that gives you an idea how bad this movie is.
The acting is poor, the music doesn't match the scenes, the cinematography is below average, and the plot is circular and doesn't make any progress. They seemed to confuse a Southern accent with a Western accent as well, so that was painful. Especially since they weren't consistent about the accent. Action scenes are very bad, with usage of slow motion when it doesn't make sense. Drug use and the gore factor didn't help. Of course violence is expected, but it was a bit too gruesome.
Seems to be EXTREMELY low budget, so maybe all of the money went to the cast? It was cool to see the little town they filmed in, it seemed much more realistic. I later found out it was an actual town, so that's probably why.
It was however great to see such a great cast. Unfortunately the directing was so bad that none of the actors could have acted their way out of a wet paper bag. Really disappointing.
Charlie Sheen has always been a bad actor, and this movie is no different. Emilio Estevez is even worse. Kiefer and Lou are horrible. Jack Palance was the only decent actor.
