Basher: 123 Hardcover – June 19, 2012

The numbers 1 to 20 have never been so creatively counted as in Basher: 123, a companion to the critically acclaimed Basher: ABC Kids. Witty, rhythmic text and Basher's bold, appealing artwork highlight the gallery of unforgettable characters like two cheeky monkeys playing tennis, three messy piggies baking cakes, and five cool caterpillars blowing bubbles who dance across the pages. But there's some learning that comes with all this fun―each double-page spread features a number line from 1 to 20, which combines with the language to give children essential tools to learn how to count quickly and with confidence.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“Each page offers new ways to interact with your child while learning numbers at the same time. Basher: 1, 2, 3 is a charming, creative, and innovative counting book perfect for helping your child learn the first 20 numbers!” ―Good Reads with Ronna

“The use of simple shapes, multiple colors, a variety of minimally depicted figures (which a child might see in a kindergarten classroom), big numbers, and ample background space is a winning combination.” ―Kirkus Review

“Children will love counting the animals, interpreting their movements, and noticing bits like the holes in the socks of those freaky frogs. They will be able to identify colors and find the different expressions on the speedy snails driving their red racecars.” ―School Library Journal

It is hard to find a book that has numbers through 20. My 2 year old loved this book and learned his 11 - 20 numbers by this book. He was ahead in his preschool class too!

I am surprised at how much my granddaughter likes to count with this book. She's 3 and is learning how to count the higher numbers without missing any of the objects.

Cute and colorful illustrations grab my daughter's attention. Would be even better with glossy pages instead of Matte. I like that it goes up to 20 and that there is a numberline across the bottom of every page and a summary of all the numebrs in the back.

Best of the counting books I've seen so far, and I've been through more than a few. This one goes up to twenty, unusual for these types of books. And while it may be geared for the very young, my almost five-year-old grandson just couldn't get enough of it. Read it every time he came into the room where it lay. Aloud. Sure, he knows his numbers by now, but something about this book just appealed to him. And I would always ask him why the ants were angry, as they are lying by a pool in the sunshine. Good talking point. Very highly recommended.
