I am very unhappy with Netflix on my Kindle Fire HD 8.9!

In my opinion, the video quality is very poor! I don't want to belabor the point with technical jargon (although I could), but the bottom line is for me the video quality is simply unacceptable. App runs clunky, video streams choppy, and picture is of very low quality.

In my house I stream Netflix on a PS3, a Roku HD box, and an Iphone 4. All three of these devices produce good picture quality and app experience (BTW.. all use the same wifi). Worst of all, my wife's Kindle Fire (non-HD) actually runs Netflix better (smoother and of equal or superior video quality). That's just plain unacceptable! Neighbor has new Ipad and I have linked it to our wifi and watched it... very good video quality !

In truth, I write this review with a touch of sadness. I really wanted to like my new Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and was confident when purchasing it that I had made a good decision. However, this 'problem' might be a deal-breaker for me. Not simply because of the Netflix app, but I now wonder if this will be indicative of my new tablet. Will I have to settle for less, because I paid less (in comparison to an Ipad). If so, and the areas are those that are important to me and my family... I will return my new tablet and go purchase a new Ipad.

To be fair, in most other cases I am very satsified with my new Kindle Fire HD 8.9. Magazines and books have been a joy to read. Hulu Plus has worked magnificently (which is strange in that the Netflix app actually has a higher rating than the Hulu Plus app). I think many of the positive Netflix app reviews may have come on the non-HD Kindles. Not sure? Amazon Prime videos and rental videos look good. The games I have played are great! My biggest gripe is the Netflix app. I don't expect a HD 1080p picture, but the app experience and video quality for me need to better than they are.

To whom it may concern, if there is something that can be done please fix this problem. If you do, I will be very grateful!

UPDATE: My apologies for the lapse in time, but I do have a better rating for the Netflix app. Over the course of the last year, Nexflix has greatly improved! The picture quality is now clear and crisp, the movies run much smoother (absolutely no lagging or mid-movie buffering), and they have added a new option to select which profile you want to use. Much better!!!
